Moreover, concessions intended for reforestation, ecotourism, and non-timber forest products, are often used for timber, and then converted to other land uses, such as agricultural fields, pastures, or mining.

This article shows that between 2000- 2020, forest concessions in the Peruvian province of Tambopata (Madre de Dios), lost 32,115 ha of forest cover, representing 21% of all deforestation in the region.
