If Canada wants strong political leadership, we need to move past this tall poppy syndrome. We should be encouraging, not discouraging, successful private-sector leaders from stepping up to serve their country—especially in times of crisis. For over a decade, Canada has struggled to find competent political leadership across the spectrum. Now more than ever, we need bold, unconventional leaders willing to take on the responsibility of guiding the country through these unprecedented challenges. It is hard work and it is a sacrifice. Show some respect. Rosemary, enough already.

It’s time to unite Canadians by focusing on shared values and common goals. It’s time to spend less, and invest more. It’s time to secure new trading partners and build one strong Canadian economy. Let’s get to work.
