Today Zohran Mamdani is launching the Office of Deed Theft Prevention.
The mayor is appointing Peter White, a lawyer who has worked on deed theft litigation, foreclosures, landlord-tenant disputes to be the director of the new office, according to @THECITYNY.
The office will be aimed at stopping deed theft, the fraudulent forging or scamming of home deeds in order to steal houses out from under families, often Black families in New York who have owned these homes for decades or generations.
