I read no longer human last last month. it started off as a very relatable story that I emphasized with deeply, but I do admit it is hard to continue emphasizing with yozo with how consistently and horrifically misogynistic he is

I've been on the Internet engaging in fandom culture for like. 15 years. been groomed and blackmailed. was around for bestgore dot com, had a fanfiction dot net account, etc. still I have never once seen the appeal of omegaverse

my main focus of my art history studies was queer art history, which is an incredibly under-researched topic hence wanting to pursue it. I'm also considering a pathway to becoming a prof if I did painting lol

tomorrow is my commencement ceremony and I'm getting my BFA of fine arts and BA of art history :) my professors and mentors have been so supportive and I'm gonna be taking some time to decide if I want to go to grad school for either painting or art history

@RedGayve idk what she would be gatekeeping lol, her art has been popular with leather kink guys for ages and she knows it and is fine with it :)

her style developed independently before learning about fetish communities, she has explained many times. the leather, zippers and other hardware are from her experience helping her parents make darts + gussets as a child

@SugarDadEngels that's a self portrait! the exaggeration of male genitalia and eroticism is an expression of identity as a queer woman. things like the eyes being covered + tight bondage is about constraints of womanhood. I wouldn't be surprised by some kink influence, but its inadvertent

@_propane_tank_ I wouldn't be surprised if she was inadvertently influenced later on, especially as a lot of gay fetish communities started buying her work, but I def don't think she was making even her later work with fetish in mind

@c0rv3 The idea that a working artist in New York City during the peak of the leather subculture was somehow totally ignorant of it is very silly

@EvilBeanDD grossman helped create leather garments as a child in the 40s and 50s, she is on the record for that informing a lot of her work. she wasn't even aware of leather fetish culture until she developed her style. she's talked about it lots, I was also surprised it wasnt kink at first

@BelovedBluv She gonna have to start explaining to us HOW these are not influenced by fetish gear Like, HOW did she came up with this on her own with no inspiration from latex mommies or some other kinky gear

I love her work (I have presented on it!), especially the left one which is a self portrait. she has a lot of reasonings for all her choices of form and material and it's frustrating how people accuse her of lying or trying to make people look bad

grossman was born in 1940, I don't think it's surprising at all that she didn't learn about leather fetish culture until later. she is aware of it and knows that same culture views her work as such fetish

when I was like 5 I was at a restaurant with my family and saw a sign up as decor that said "never trust a skinny cook" and I have thought about that constantly for nearly two decades now. like yeah I'll for sure trust fat cooks that makes more sense than anything ever
