The Board of Trustees honored recipients of the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running program recognizing creative teens in grades 7–12 across 28 categories. One #TeamSISD student earned a national Silver Medal for her drawing, placing in the top 1% of more than 300,000 entries. Congratulations to these exceptional artists!

Last week’s EPMA Showcase field trip was a success! Thank you to @SISD_FineArts & @EPMAtweets for the opportunity. Can’t wait to see our Falcon Art students’ artworks in February & ready to be exhibited.

Opening night last week for @castoffalconstheatre production of “She Kills Monsters” was a success! The cast did great & I’m super proud of my son, Eli, for putting himself out there as a 9th grader. There are 2 more opportunities to experience it. @SISD_FineArts

Received amazing news! My son & daughter, Eli & Ava Saucedo, were notified that their artworks received Gold Key awards for the Scholastic Art competition! Their artworks will be exhibited in ABQ, NM Feb. 28th & have a chance to advance to nationals! @Eastlake_HS @SISD_FineArts

This is my daughter, Ava’s 2nd year in Mariachi Falco as a violinist & vocalist. She did an awesome job in her solo & in the trio at PreUIL. I’m so proud of Ava for her artistic, musical, and academic achievements these last 3.5 years of high school. @Eastlake_HS @SISD_FineArts

Ava had long day yesterday. I dropped her off at 8:15am for a HiQ tournament. Her team placed 3rd & qualified for nationals! Ava & her teammate had to change into their mariachi outfits, so they could head out to the UIL Mariachi Festival by 5pm. @Eastlake_HS @SISD_FineArts
