@joeydhansen If you have Mike Gillis, Leafs will be one of the most cutting edge organizations. I still miss him in Vancouver, he was always two steps ahead when applying the latest research in player development.

Gillis has never won a Cup. As a lifelong Leafs fan I think the team needs to hire a proven Cup winner as it's next GM. Someone like Chiarelli or Rutherford.

@taj1944 A proper rebuild is more than just high draft picks - just ask the pre McDavid Oilers. You have to have veterans in place to show them the way. And don't say you can add them later. Hronek and Blueger may not be the ones to do it but I can think of no one else on the team who can

You can tell who really knows how to do a rebuild properly by their opinion on whether they should trade Hronek or not.

@canuckguru Rebuild a winning culture. Canucks have not had that type of identity since early 2010's. Swagger and belief are important before the wins start to pile up. Development is going to be the most imprtant part of their rebuild. UFA will be last pieces

Secondly, until the ship starts to turn, I’m not sure many FA’s will come here, and if they do, it’s guy’s last shot and that’s not who you want anyway.

Imac said one of the reasons Canucks wanted draft picks in future years is because it gives them the flexibility to flip those picks if the team is good by then. (Halford & Brough)
