Disappointment of course, however it’s only half time and 1-0 isn’t an awful score to take back to Villa Park. All those screaming “bottlers” etc, if #AVFC get knocked out next week, then go nuts but it definitely isn’t over right now. Wasnt loads in the game, one moment has separated it.

Until the penalty, Emery would have been pretty content. #AVFC regularly progressing the ball into attack & full-backs in high areas. Forest creating little, aside from crosses and set plays (where the penalty comes from). Emery gesturing for calm -Villa don't need to change much

Villa got 54 minutes out of Onana, but may have hurt himself more in the process. He and #AVFC wanted him fit for this game and to push through the pain barrier. Was really good in the first half - important Bogarde attunes straight away, but it's a tough match to come into

McGinn not happy with Anderson's challenge on Watkins. Buendia half-heartedly asking for VAR to take a look. Really robust midfield battle with tackles flying in. Rogers has isolated Morato three times in dangerous positions, probably #AVFC's best threat

Our issue is our 2 main cm’s love an injury. Accept it from kamara cuz he so good. If got decent offer for onana would look to move on

@conormul @danbardell @ClaretBluePod Genuinely undecided about whether I would sign him permanently or not. He hasn’t been great, we haven’t been great. Seen Barkley and Bogarde both absolutely hammered on here in recent weeks too. As always, an interesting summer transfer window ahead!

@KevHughesie @danbardell @ClaretBluePod Luiz hasn’t been great & I wouldn’t sign him. However I think the criticism was harsh, especially linking our poor form with him in the team. Personally think the team is just generally poor creatively without tielemans. Massive drop off without anyone else coming in

@conormul @danbardell @ClaretBluePod Heh-heh. I think it will be an interesting decision come the summer, balanced with Barkley’s contract situation, Kamara’s ongoing absence and potential alternative signings - given that Onana has provided a timely reminder of why CM depth is so important.
