@artstuffmatters at #CMAMC2022 on initiatives in museums that really uphold current systems rather than undo them: « actual social justice is about redistributing resources and power ». Don’t repair museums - transform them, build something else.

This is how I always feel when asked what is the "most amazing" find I've made in the archive.
The archive is nothing to me but TRAUMA. The feelings of defeat & dehumanisation I get when working on Egyptian heritage archival material is so damaging that it leaves me depressed

Whenever I hear historians go on & on about their love for the archives & how beautiful & mystical the archive is I just think about how many of us who work on the histories of the oppression and subjugation of our ancestors could *never* describe the archive using those words.
