Thread here on a piece of work I've been involved with for the last 2ish years, focusing on understanding the teaching of writing, what challenges are involved, and what everyone in school can do to overcome those challenges

5/5 We’d love your thoughts/comments. Writing is under researched/supported. A school we’re working with was asked by an OFSTED inspector trialling the new framework what their approach to writing was. So they asked OFSTED what's known re what it should/ could be. A) Not enough…

3/5 Vulnerable pupils can learn to love writing AND make great progress in & through it very quickly through CCA based selection from practical menu of interventions; all pupils can benefit through using strategic monitoring tools.

2/5 Obstacles impeding vulnerable Y5/6 pupils' writing progress were more complex/dynamic than for reading. BUT teams (teachers, leaders, LSAs) using RTI together built a 3D, actionable picture via scaffolded case analysis; interventions menu successfully expanded possibilities

@IanDunt I think so too. Wasn't entirely sure him taking a swipe in passing wouldn't bring some abuse your way, but if it has I'm guessing it's gone under the radar, which is excellent.

@IanDunt not sure if you're aware, but it would appear that you have a new house in Dominic Cummings' head. Sweetheart deal, not even peppercorn rent

The Tories are lost because every part of their ideology has failed. Commentary on the leadership race has focused on the candidates, but their fundamental problem is that their entire worldview has collapsed By me, for Bloomberg - £ but screengrabs: 🧵 bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

@timoconnorbl He's past his best now, sadly, but I always thought of this as Mako V's trademark. He starts the match looking gassed, and then proceeds to absolutely dominate (at his peak, at least)

@cbokhove The stance system is somewhat distinctive, if basically a variant on rock-paper-scissors (although ultimately most gameplay mechanics end up being some variation of that). I think the visuals are probably the game's greatest strength, personally, but to each their own

I personally think Ghost of Tsushima is a bit over-rated as a game.

@cbokhove So if you want something very different and distinctive, it has essentially nothing for you bar a relatively under-used setting. If you are fine with doing something well-established but to a high level, it's very solidly-executed and comforting

@cbokhove Depends on what you're looking for. It is a very standard open-world adventure & combat game, but it does most of the things that these games do pretty well, and avoids most of the major pitfalls other games of the same kind tend to fall into.
