Spoiler Alert: Disclosure Day isn't really about aliens or anything like that. It's about magical glow sticks that are never explained or exposited, but comprise the overwhelming bulk of the plot. They also do whatever Spielberg and Koepp need them to do whenever the plot runs aground.

If you've watched The Simpsons you've likely been listening to the voice of Phil Hartman for years. Troy McClure, the lawyer Lionel Hutz and monorail seller, Lyle Lanley were all voiced by him. But in 1998, Hartman was murdered by his wife, Brynn. Brynn then drove to the home of her friend Ron Douglas and confessed to the killing, but he did not believe her. They drove back to the house in separate cars, and she called another friend and confessed a second time. When Douglas saw the body, he called the authorities. At this point, Brynn locked herself in the bathroom and shot herself dead. The police stated Hartman's death was caused by "domestic discord" between the couple.
