the average US mortgage is $250,000 at 7% over 30 years. total repayment? $598,000. you borrow $250K and pay back $598K. $348,000 straight to the bank for nothing. then you pay to fix up the house. stuff breaks. you pay insurance monthly. property taxes every year. 3–6% in realtor fees when you sell. and we act like renting is throwing money away. there is a strong argument for renting.

there is no reason a full-time worker should need: a roommate parental help side hustles a cosigner just to afford a basic one-bedroom in the city they work in. at that point the economy is not “challenging.” it’s completely broken.

Or education system fails many. Maybe start with getting high back on track so everyone understands basic finance and that men can't be women. Example of the failure, Supreme Court Justice who claims she isn't a biologist so she doesn't know what a woman is. An Ivy League education ain't what it used to be.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but all education should be free. We should want an educated society. It benefits all of us.

@MetamateDaz You also know there is a cap on how much one can collect. Waiting to collect until she 70 the max benefit is $5181. If you increase the max amount withheld then there needs to be a corresponding increase in benefits for the people paying more.

Most people don't realize but Americans only pay Social Security taxes on income under $184,500. What that means is anyone that makes over that stops paying Social Security at $184,501. If the Social Security earnings cap were removed they would have enough money for universal health care.

Colorado has over 730,000 small businesses, employing 1.2 million people in our state. They’re the heartbeat of our economy!  In Washington, we should be making it easier to start a small business, not harder.

@Floridagirl0850 I will only use v self checkout if I have only a couple of items and I am in a real hurry. But I rarely am in a hurry. So I use the regular check out.

My Publix now has self-checkout. I will stand in a long line before I ever use that b.s just on principle.
