@Oscarthefarmer Can relate to that. 2010 October flood, chickpeas dead. Re sowed to millet on December 18. Yielded 3t/ha, $500/t and double cropped back to wheat June 5 for 3t/ha for H2 wheat. Two crops in 51 weeks and not N of Moree. Most profitable year at the time.

And what we lose in the fire we'll find in the ashes... Bad for chickpeas that already had some serious water logging and disease. Great for wheat. Good for sorghum. Great for pasture. Lovely drizzly morning.

Had few people ask how my Grange LDL (Low Disturbance Loosener - not a ripper) went last harvest. More than happy with the response. 1.5t/ha in wheat and 0.7t/ha in canola. Comparisons in parts of same paddock with 3 EM zones. @fordham_ag @grange_mac

@FredVLarsen Used to grow a winter wheat and remember getting similar shoot numbers. Would cut off the N for while to drop a few tillers as couldn’t fill that many. Would still yield 5-6t/ha. Enjoyed your podcast with with @johnkempf

Christmas time in the trial with ultra early seeded, 1st Aug, winter hybrid wheat. What a massive leaf emerging on some tillers. Currently we’re past 1100 shoot/m2 from a planting pop of 100 pl/m2.

Looking at fitting 2” #banjoflowmeter on chemical mixer. Instructions say 20” straight pipe before and after meter. Anyone had experience using shorter distances? Can see reason for before to minimise any turbulence.

@James_Stacey_ That’s what I thought - most crops don’t like being too close to most herbicides.

@dcook70 Was at a spray day, seeding depth was mentioned a few times, to shallow and it will cause issues.

First time user of #overwatchherbicide 2024. Looks the goods but mixed results from what I hear/read. Farm flat, heavy duplex soils with near full 💧 profile. Am I looking down the barrel of prolonged bleaching and significant yield loss - canola or wheat?

After watching a shocking video last night I have decided to become vegan. I am turning my farm over to 100% organic lentil production. Over time the soil biota will control disease and suppress weeds. Wish me luck!

Cockatoos on silo bags - out loading over two weeks. Thinking two gas guns set at different intervals so timing is irregular. Any other ideas rather than using covers, plus drums to hold them up like some are doing? #cockatoos #silobags

Perennial Q of water quality for spraying. About to change from S&D water to rain water for all spraying. Currently use AMS for glyphosate & grass herbicides, plus Li 700 if needed. Q is would I still use them? Thinking yes for herbicide uptake

@agrobaz @glenleeguru @Pontaragrain Late to this thread, but putting up new shed and working out tank size I will put in. Currently spraying with S&D💧 & AMS with DST & clethodim. If using tank water, still use AMS for cell penetration? Yearly cost of AMS would pay for big tank upgrade. Capturing >600K water

@glenleeguru @Pontaragrain I’d assume both will be ok. Bore and dam water has been an issue of late. Also some schemes. Testing for bicarbonates etc is so easy and cheap, good insurance 👍
