good afternoon guys💪 i came across a redditor who raised a concern about google using recaptchas to train its AI for free and i’m not gonna lie i felt used for a second. for years we’ve all done it “select all images with traffic lights” “click every bus” “verify you’re human” it felt like nothing right..just tryna to access a site but if you zoom out it starts to make sense 🤨 AI models are only as good as the data they’re trained on and most of that data is messy biased and unstructured so the issue most times isn’t the model, it’s getting clean labeled data at scale! and that’s exactly what recaptcha ended up doing every click was a human labeling real world images traffic lights crosswalks cars millions of people billions of interactions over years that kind of dataset is GOLD because it’s human verified so we weren’t just proving we’re human we were quietly contributing to systems that needed human judgment Google has always been accused of data theft and breach of privacy but this confirms it 💯 now enter Perle Labs @PerleLabs they raised 17.5M backed by Framework, CoinFund and others and they’re building around that same idea but making it explicit you onboard you get tasks you label or review data you get scored on accuracy you build reputation you earn rewards same loop of humans improving AI but this time it’s visible, tracked and incentivized what’s interesting to me is this this model already worked. recaptcha proved that Perle is just rebuilding it with aligned incentives so maybe it’s not that we were used it’s that we were always part of the training layer the only question now is who actually benefits from it this is a real issue that's why i'm switching #ToPerle + #PerleA and with this tweet, I'm confirming my participation in @PerleLabs community campaign
