Only if your only metric for who’s winning the war is kill count. It’s possibly to have many more dead and to still “win” the war strategically. Just look at Vietnam. It’s also still possible to be losing the war strategically and be committing genocide (in fact genocidal acts become more likely out of desperation when you’re struggling to meet your strategic goals). Ultimately I think we’ll only know who came out on top when we see the final terms of the ceasefire. If Iran ended up getting more from the agreement than they were asking for in the prewar negotiations, it’s fair to say they “won”. I think this is possible, as they’ve likely proven they can inflict more pain and drag out a conflict for longer than America thought before the war, and so they could have a stronger negotiating position. Right now it’s unclear who’s asking for and agreeing to what.

@DrewPavlou @varadmehta Decent analogy. I still marvel at the fine line between "Iran won" and "the US/Israel are committing genocide." Trully amazing how non-objective and retarded these people are.

Let’s flip the scenario for a moment. Imagine Iran killed Trump in the first 5 minutes of the war, established air superiority over the US mainland, wiped out the entire US Air Force, US Navy, killed half the Cabinet, flattened the US military industrial complex, then started building runways in Missouri to land Iranian troops without losing any casualties. Would you say it was a US victory if the US managed to keep the Panama Canal closed throughout this all?
Sami Gold@souljagoyteller

The fact that America’s goals went from “the complete destruction of Iran’s military power or even regime change” to “reopen a trade route that was open a month ago” doesn’t say great things about American power

Timeline of the War on Iran from Trump's POV This is GOLD from /r BaconManDan9 and I added the dates that were missing 🤣 Mar 3: "We won the war." Mar 6: “We don’t need people to join wars we already won”. Mar 7: "We defeated Iran." Mar 9: "We must attack Iran." Mar 9: "The war is ending almost completely, and very beautifully." Mar 11: “You never like to say too early you won. We won. In the first hour it was over.” Mar 12: "We did win, but we haven't won completely yet." Mar 13: "We won the war." Mar 14: "Please help us." Mar 15: "If you don't help us, I will certainly remember it." Mar 16: "Actually, we don't need any help at all." Mar 16: "I was just testing to see who's listening to me." Mar 16: "If NATO doesn't help, they will suffer something very bad." Mar 17: "We neither need nor want NATO's help." Mar 17: "I don't need Congressional approval to withdraw from NATO." Mar 18: "Our allies must cooperate in reopening the Strait of Hormuz." Mar 19: "US allies need to get a grip - step up and help open the Strait of Hormuz." Mar 20: "NATO are cowards." Mar 21: "The Strait of Hormuz must be protected by the countries that use it. We don't use it, we don't need to open it." Mar 22: "This is the last time. I will give Iran 48 hours. Open the strait" Mar 22: "Iran is Dead" Mar 23: "We had very good and productive talks with Iran." Mar 24: "We’re making progress." Mar 25: “They gave us a present and the present arrived today. And it was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money. I’m not going to tell you what that present is, but it was a very significant prize.” Mar 26: "Make a deal, or we’ll just keep blowing them away." Mar 27: "We don’t have to be there for NATO." Mar 28: No major quote Mar 29: Claimed talks were progressing Mar 30: "Open the Strait of Hormuz immediately, or face devastating consequences." Mar 31: Claimed a deal was "very close" and that Iran would "do the right thing" Apr 1: "We’ll see what happens very soon." Apr 2: Repeated that a deal was likely, while warning of continued strikes if not Apr 3: "Something big is going to happen." Apr 4: Said Iran must comply "immediately" or face further consequences. Apr 5: "Open the fuckin' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah." Apr 6: "We effectively won" Apr 7 AM: "A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again." Apr 7 PM: "I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks." Apr 8 12:01 AM: "A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen."

He’s not a serious journalist because he has zero sense of objectivity and has been saying for years the regime is on the brink of collapse. Ask yourself would the US make a deal with a regime on the brink of collapse. Your childish comparison of dead soldiers shows you understand just as little about Iranians as the administrations that were pushing for this war. It’s possible win strategically even if you lose more soldiers and assets. This regime will likely emerge from this war stronger than it was, despite the heavy losses it took. The US achieved a temporary reduction in military capabilities, and a bunch of war crimes.

@devils_avocado @MahyarTousi He is not a serious journalist because he is not buying into your delusions? In more than a month of war, Iran did not kill a single soldier in Israel, did not hit any military site. All it it were residential buildings but according to you, it warned the war. Retard.

The regime in Iran is truly fucked 😂 They were forced to submit into negotiating a surrender deal. And they failed to get the war to end despite their rhetoric. All they got was a two week pause. God Bless President Trump 🇺🇸
Mark Dubowitz@mdubowitz

If these are Trump’s 15-points and Iran’s 10-points, it should be quite an negotiation. The gaps are planetary distances apart. 🪐 Trump 15 demands to Iran 1. Dismantle all major nuclear facilities 2. End all uranium enrichment on Iranian soil 3. Transfer enriched uranium stockpiles out of Iran 4. Accept intrusive international inspections everywhere 5. Permanently renounce any nuclear weapons pathway 6. Suspend ballistic missile development 7. Stop production of long-range missiles 8. End drone transfers and military exports to proxies 9. Cut support to Hezbollah 10. Cut support to Hamas 11.Cut support to Iraqi Shiite militias/proxy groups 12. End weapons transfers to Houthis 13. Fully reopen and secure the Strait of Hormuz 14. Stop threatening regional shipping and Gulf states 15. Accept a broader regional de-escalation framework, including limits on military escalation with Israel Iran’s 10 demands to Trump 1. A binding guarantee that the U.S. and allies will not strike Iran again 2. A permanent end to hostilities, not just a temporary ceasefire 3. An end to Israeli strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon 4. Full lifting of U.S. sanctions 5. Protection for Iran’s regional proxies and allied militias 6. Reopening the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian conditions 7. A transit fee reportedly around $2 million per ship, shared with Oman 8. Compensation or reconstruction support for war damage inside Iran 9. Recognition of Iran’s regional security interests.  10. A broader framework for long-term negotiations without immediate surrender of core strategic capabilities.

For now I just don’t see this as a lasting ceasefire. Seems like a transparent ploy from Trump to get some relief on commodity prices and get the Hormuz backlog cleared while they regroup for another attack. Interesting that Iran accepted though which means either they also needed to catch a breath to regroup and restock, or they received some meaningful guarantee (if this exists with Trump) that bombings won’t restart again.

@juvus @sharghzadeh I agree. Trump backing down was the desired outcome for people who care about Iran . Given his mentality, widespread shaming of him online for it makes it less likely he’ll back down from a similar threat next time, purely to save face.

@sharghzadeh I am not a fan of those type of pictures. Shaming Trump is not helping. The fact that a trump can change his mind is a plus and a minus. He can TACO all day everyday as long as he TACOs away from genocide and war crimes. No shaming.😄

@jontavious @NiohBerg Trump has repeated history of talking out his arse for strategic purposes, you can never trust what he says at face value. That’s not tin foil hat, it’s just understanding how he operates.

@WellDnX @NiohBerg Sure, I’m not necessarily saying people in Iran don’t support him. I’m just saying I don’t think Reza will have played any role in whatever Trump is plotting here, and Trump will do what he wants regardless of what’s best for Iranians.

Iranians inside and outside Iran haven’t slept since Trump made his threat. The ones who live inside were even willing to sacrifice their lives, deal with blackouts, water shortages and everything else JUST TO OVERTHROW the islamic regime. Now they are at risk of being killed. Unfuckingbelievable.
Cillian@CilComLFC

@NiohBerg I am furious right now. The Iranian Regime is a Terrorist Regime, and they are on the brink of collapse. They have to be completely wiped out, NOT negotiated with. This is such a disappointing development. We were so close to great things. President Trump has chickened out.

Sure, but he also said he agrees to suspend bombing subject to Iran agreeing to opening the strait of Hormuz, which made it seem open ended still. In any case it seems Iranian media is reporting on it too now, so perhaps it’s genuine? Remains to be seen what the terms are exactly.

@NickHachey1 @hiitsmemooneh @WhiteHouse I don’t actually see them agreeing to a temporary reopening of the strait as they’ll just see it (rightly) as a ploy by Trump to get some oil out to ease markets before resuming bombing again. Nowhere in Trump’s message did it even say Iran had agreed to the ceasefire.

@hiitsmemooneh @WhiteHouse The regime is essentially admitting defeat if they reopen the straight without a permanent cease in hostilities. So don't lose all hope yet. Never underestimate a Leftist or Islamists ability to screw themselves out of a good thing.

@NiohBerg I don’t buy it. He’s saying he will agree to a ceasefire subject to Iran agreeing to open the strait. I don’t see Iran agreeing to that on a temporary basis without guarantees, so this is just more mind games for now.
