The good news is that the alarm system at Nassau Town Hall works. Town Hall remains open today despite significant water damage. Our thanks to Nassau Fire for their quick response and assistance in saving important and historic documents and preventing further damage.

We are once again pleased to welcome the Rensselaer County Conservation Alliance for another program at Nassau Town Hall. The three species of stream trout in New York will be discussed including management of the species and habitat. Always informative programs by RCCA.

The last 10 days have been jammed with events across Nassau. From our celebration of General Lafayette’s visit to Earth Day events and our 15th Annual Farm Tailgate Sale - people were making a difference. My sincere thanks for over 100 volunteers this week.

What a great day in Nassau! Thank you to everyone making a difference this weekend. From roadside cleanup to the 15th Annual Farm Tailgate to the nearly two dozen trail crew volunteers to those that helped recycle hundreds of tires and so much paint - my sincere thanks!

Today we celebrate the amazing forests of Nassau’s gateway to the Rensselaer Plateau.

Vernal pools are a critical part of the Mud Pond landscape. They offer important habitat that feeds the complexity of one of New York’s few bog lake conservation areas. Nassau is honored to be a steward of this special place.

Happy Earth Day! Today we also celebrate the 13th anniversary of the opening of Nassau’s Mud Pond Preserve and everyone that made it possible. It became the first public preserve in the town’s history. Today, Nassau has six new public spaces constituting over 700 acres.

My father-in-law, Austin Emery, was of the Greatest Generation. A Navy Commander that was given so much by his service at a pivotal time for our military and our nation. He spent a lifetime in public service paying it back. Giving thanks for him on the anniversary of his death.
