Her work focuses on the African diaspora in the Americas. She was awarded the Society of Historical Archaeology J.C. Harrington Award in 2014. To date, she is the only Black archaeologist to receive the award.

Dr. Theresa Singleton, Archaeologist and Professor of Anthropology at Syracuse University. In 1980, she became the first Black woman to earn a doctorate in the field of historical archaeology and African-American history and culture from the University of Florida.

He has conducted research with City of Hope in Molecular Biology. He has conducted independent research through Pomona College’s Summer Undergraduate Research Program on LGBTQ representation in films and plays in Uganda, Mozambique and South Africa.
