@Bacon_Is_King Retake your history classes. These laws started in 1877 after Reconstruction ended and continued to be enacted up to around 1920. They were abolished in the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The politicians you cited supported their use to their discredit.
