The full decision says: -Licensed sellers only in Bab Tuma - al-Qassa' - Bab Sharqi (where all the Christians live) -Alcoholic drinks may only be sold sealed (takeaway 😁), and not served in restaurants in cups -Licensed shops must be at a distance at least greater than 75m from mosques and churches, and not close to government offices -A period of 3 months will be given until the implementation of this decision begins

Nothing rivals the absurdity of the rumour mill insisting that Turkey masterminded Assad’s overthrow – except, perhaps, the equally imaginative tale that the British “rehabilitated” al-Sharaa and HTS. Both have somehow graduated from fantasy to mainstream media, which really says more about today’s discourse than it does about reality.

The detention facilities in Syria—including camps such as al-Hol—that house families of suspected ISIS militants have been a decade-long nightmare for all involved. Years of mismanagement have entrenched both inhumane living conditions and smuggling networks.
Whatever one’s view of how the situation evolved in recent weeks, two points merit clarity. First, Damascus has never regarded the indefinite detention of women and children in makeshift camps as either a sound counterterrorism policy or a humane one. Second, assuming the authorities would simply release thousands of ISIS-linked detainees without a strategy overlooks their long and costly history of fighting ISIS.
