@dsreex It’s a masterpiece. The way Bulgakov weaves together the Soviet satire, the Jerusalem chapters, and the magical realism is mindblowing. It’s definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite Russian novels

@mourningrose you’ve completely convinced me that I shouldn't wait any longer to dive into it. A witty, dramatic romp through Soviet Moscow is exactly what my reading list is missing. Lol.

@dsreex bulgakov is one of russia’s best in my experience. it’s an incredibly funny story (sort of redolent of pope, i thought, but i’ve not often been agreed with lol), that is venomous in its satire and as with many other russian greats, marries pulp and (some) profundity. great fun

@agdukhan 'utterly delightful' is the best endorsement yet. It's been waiting patiently on my shelf, but the promise of Soviet satire means I need to open it soon.

@dsreex Utterly delightful. A romp around Soviet Moscow. Deeply witty and dramatic while obviously a critique of Soviet society and culture. I can't recommend it enough

@dsreex Just finished reading. I was lost with all the long Russian names but it was a funny and entertaining read. Everything came together nicely in the end. Loved the characters. Awesome insight into Russian history scattered throughout the book.
