In her latest guest blog, @LetesiaG explores the resilience of the women of colour working in sport she interviewed. She also considers how the #sports sector can support them better & work to dismantle systemic racism within the sector. womeninsport.org/opinion/champi…

@Womeninsport_uk @silverfitorg My mum and my daughter did something similar by themselves during lockdown. Good for both of them in terms of motivation and having something to bond through.

@Womeninsport_uk Finding or identifying opportunities suited to them. Some activities advertised for women over 55 can appear too sedate or gentle but then others may appear too competitive or not suited to beginners

@Womeninsport_uk I believe it’s important to communicate any ongoing costs. An offer advertised as free for the first few weeks can leave ambiguity over what the ongoing financial implications are and can be a barrier for many women.

@Womeninsport_uk At my club we utilised existing participants as the influencers. We set them the challenge to spread the word and recruit friends and colleagues. The person who recruited the most would win a gift card.

Let's talk about influencers! These can range from family and friends, existing members of a sports club, to high profile elite athletes. Q1. How have you used influencers in your marketing to engage women and inspire/motivate them to get involved? 👭 #WomeninSportChat

@Womeninsport_uk I like examples that have been built into girls existing habit of meeting up in a local area and through engagement adding something like a couch to 5k

@Womeninsport_uk In my touch rugby team, one of the teenage girls was the most frequent attender of any of our participants. We celebrated that in front of the whole group and gave her some gift vouchers.

Q3. Our #ReframingSport for Teenage Girls research found that giving girls a clear emotional reward from sport is key - rather than just focusing on winning or losing. Can you share any examples from your experience of celebrating 'moments of pride'? #WomeninSportChat
