He wasn’t the heaviest even by Mars or Earth standards. He cuddled into Adrian, tears slowly stopping, leaving trails of blood down his cheeks. “It means the world. And everything is perfect. You even included nature…” He couldn’t ever not be grateful for that.

“I finally feel safe. He’s still teary, just curling into a hug, his arm around Adrian the best it could be. Most of his weight was on the other too, as he was feeling the effects of Erid’s gravity heavier somehow. “Thank you for making the biodome and saving me and Grace.”

He’s quick to hug Adrian, so thankful to finally be safe. He apologizes for being a “leaky space blob”, comforted by Adrian and his warmth, even through the Xenonite exosuit. He’s finally safe.

He nods. Adrian is right. He has the choice now. He’s not The Butcher of Convict. He’s Simon, he’s *free. “You’re…right. I’m not who I was forced to be anymore. I can be different here on Erid. And I’m finally free, too. Free and safe.” He’s still tearing up.

“You…don’t care?” He wipes at his tears, sniffing. He really is a leaky human. “You’re too nice…” Part of him wants to bawl. The rest of him wants to hug Adrian. He’s experiencing too many emotions to even name, but he can pick up relief as one. One he’d never felt before.

He tears up. His tears look like blood, though Adrian wouldn’t notice. He’s never been treated so kindly, he’s not used to it. But it’s also some of the best experiences he’s had. He’s no longer going to suffer. Never again. He almost can’t believe it.

He nods, smiling softly, agreeing. “I love it. It’s really different from where I grew up, but I love it so much.” He *is adjusting to the gravity, which isn’t the most comfortable thing, and still has a little team of scientists and doctors to watch over him. +

“He does like to talk…he’s really sweet. He and Grace protected me when they found me. And Rocky told me and Grace about you and Erid. I’m really glad we made it.”
