We got to retire the phrase “no ethical consumption under capitalism” because it’s turned into trite rhetoric. That sentence is meant to be the starting point for an exploration into ethics & capitalism, not a way to end a conversation through justifying any consumptive behavior.

@triedandtrope Cara McKenna wrote a book called Unbound. Hero is a recluse. Charlotte Stein wrote another book about a woman and her neighbour. The hero was a recluse and used to pull apart mechanical things and put them back together. Can't recall the name now but it was amazing.
