My mother worked for decades of her life paying her national insurance which was her contribution towards her pension. How dare do these loathsome jerks with their PM pensions of over £100k per year for life (Major, Blair) tell the elderly they are not worthy of their pensions.

I feel strongly about the state pension and the threats to it because for me how a society treats its elderly is indicative of whether or not it is a good, decent society. And as someone who has been a carer for two very dear elderly parents I’m incensed when I hear commentators or politicians say that the elderly are now a ‘burden’ that ‘we can’t afford’. Old people are never a burden. It’s corrupt politicians- and those who want us to callously cast the elderly aside - who are the problem.

Organisers of pro-Palestine marches have said Keir Starmer’s threat to ban some demonstrations opposing Israel’s actions in the Middle East will “strike at the root of free assembly and free speech” in the UK.
On Saturday morning, the prime minister told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that “there are instances” in which he would support stopping some pro-Palestine protests altogether.

The only poll which matters is on the 7th May. Don’t have regrets on Friday that you were gulled into thinking it was a done deal & you didn’t need to vote. EVERY SINGLE VOTE is needed to make this a reality. We need to work for it. So GET OUT AND VOTE.

A new mega-poll has predicted that pro-independence parties are set for a 'thumping' landslide victory in next week's Scottish parliamentary elections, putting 'indyref2 right back on the table'

@benonwine This Labour Party have lowered the bar considerably, just all the promises alone that were immediately broken when they got in should be enough but the corruption behind the scenes is alarming.

@benonwine As they haven't told the truth for decades along with no longer representing their constituents you could end up wondering what their purpose is now meant to be as all they've done since 1997 is to create a 3rd world, nonentity island off the coast of Europe.

@benonwine Not as long as Tories or Labour are in government. The rest I'd give a chance.

@Alexandr4Denman Does that include his? We pay him a mouthwatering amount every year for protection. That multi millionaire can pay it himself.

@Alexandr4Denman Good old five wars Blair pops up every now and again with some cuckoo ideas. His best one was opening our borders. Second-best was Campbell. They still ain't found the weapons of mass destruction.

I’ve been heartened by the tremendous backlash to Blair and Major’s outrageous statements on the state pension & the elderly being something we cannot afford. And make no mistake, there needs to be a ferocious backlash -as there was when Reeves took away the Winter Fuel Allowance (Labour have been down in the polls since then). I’ve always said we need to be a lot more like the French when politicians try to take away something which is our right, and on the state pension we need to make it crystal clear that there will be a huge price to pay for any politicians or parties who dare threaten it.
It’s the only way.
