Does "Miel and other funds used for personal expenses" ring a bell? 🤭

@forkdlex kawawa naman ung anak.. wag na sya e damay..

I'm surprised. Can't Buy Me Love is not a romcom --- and THAT makes it a winner. #CantBuyMeLove Donny Pangilinan is endearing as Bingo and Belle Mariano is enigmatic as Caroline so the contrast works. I came in with doubts that this may be overhyped but I'm wrong. The show somehow works both formula and out of the box storytelling in. This show, so far is a notch above the other romances out in PH TV right now. The romcom genre is one of the hardest things to pull off on TV because you somehow have to involve high-stakes to such a light genre. yet this show pulls off kilig, character exploration, a cinematic experience, and mysteries that grip you-- you have to keep watching. Now THIS is how you do love stories in a teleserye method. Hindi yung mag end lang sa boy meets girl sa first episode. This show is smart, mysterious, and has a heart. Possible spoilers ahead. The show is pretty dark for the genre. It is an exploration of two deprived characters, their lives seemingly intertwined by a crime from years ago. We are introduced to various colorful characters. Some from the world of corporate magnates and their hypocritical families. Some from the slums of Binondo, trying to make ends meet. You get lost in the worlds that are built in the show. The writing is top-level and the direction has a very solid, cinematic treatment. One of the most haunting scenes for me was when Rico Blanco's "You'll Be Safe Here" played on one of the DARKEST scenes in the show. Grabe, such a goosebumps-worthy moment. We are also given such great acting moments. The supporting cast is strong. Maris Racal is a scene stealer as the fun villain- Irene, Agot Isidro is calm but terrifying as Cindy, Nova Villa remains heartfelt, and Ina Raymundo has such a sphinxlike character that keeps you puzzled. Donny Pangilinan as the leading man gives us such an adorable character and he carries this role well. He brings warmth to the screen with his kind eyes. Then, there is BELLE. And WOW. The one who had such a defining performance here is Belle Mariano as the complex Caroline. She remains magnetic. Her grief and darkness is alluring. She is frosty and you feel the weight on her shoulders, you cannot wait to see her humanity emerge. Now lang nag play si Belle ng medyo dark role and she carries it with the vigor and flair. It is like me as an audience wants to melt her heart, too. I have only seen the first two episodes. usually, that is my way to see if this is something I will keep watching or scrap. This is definitely a must-see. Dark, plus smart but with a heart. Hope they sustain this.
