@foshannahsof @JoelSeidl @tekniik_ @MrGoodByts The n wors that ends in gga isnt used in Germany. Slurs in German are different, also there are other words that end in gga or similar sounding words. Tigger, Bigga, Mudda, Wixxa, we also have dikka, diggi from digga

@foshannahsof @tekniik_ @MrGoodByts so every other word with a "ck" and "er" at the end that gets changed to "gg" and "a" or "ah" at the end in northern german slang is somehow legit but only dicker is not? makes no sense.

@sillybutch it's probably an algorithm thing but whenever something happens in the US we see memes from Europeans and vice versa. Its not one-sided.

feasible. like every time Texas freezes there’s about a thousand tweets being like “omg don’t judge the Texans they’re not used to this kind of thing” and obviously I agree but why is that only reserved for Americans?

I am always going to be on the side of the British when it comes to this heat discourse bc a) it’s indicative of something bigger (climate change) b) I’ve worked in tons of old buildings with no ac and it’s hell and c) most importantly, have we never heard of simply having

@BiggieAtx @UberSteve If precisely 0 Americans engaged in this discussion the Europeans would still find a way to blame it on us and tweet about that instead. This attention is exactly what they want, not air conditioning.

@callmejinnie1 Idk this seems like it could be avoided entirely. If you don't want international discourse don't post on an international website? It's literally an American app?

@daikimengg Oh I caught it, it just isn't humorous in the way you intended 😂 maybe you guys should consider going into debt if it means fewer of you die in the next heat wave. Sounds like a necessity to me!

Hi I'm Ki and I'm 6'1 just fyi guys
@foshannahsof Me talking about getting indebted was simply a hyperbole, meant to be seen as a humorous comment (which it seems you didn't catch). Obviously, no one is getting indebted from their utility bill. I think I covered most of it, hope it helps ! 👍🏽

@ADHDSapphic @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts It's okay. I am from a mixed German/American family. We're not going to agree with each other on this, but I'd really urge you to consider that the spelling/origin is not just a coincidence. Other that that es ist mir egal. Sag immer, was du sagen willst.

@daikimengg Oh I've read the tweet several times (thanks again for the laughs), and I really do find it sad that you can't afford AC without a loan. The whole concept is both tragic and entertaining. 😂

@foshannahsof I am begging you to use some critical thinking skills. Read the whole tweet, analyze each part independently, then as a whole, and if you still don't get it after that, I promise I will explain it to you in good faith.

@foshannahsof Huh ? I feel like it was very obvious I was talking about basic necessities like healthcare or even education which I do believe to be a necessity for any given society. But it's true that the illiteracy rate in the US is incredibly high, so not surprised you wouldn't catch that

@ADHDSapphic @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts That doesn't make any sense. Germans don't spontaneously change the spelling of their words because of pronunciation based on how fast people are speaking. Otherwise the entire language would have a different spelling by now. Is that actually what you believe?

Mel@ADHDSapphic·
@foshannahsof @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts It was popularized as a slang term and German hip hop was influenced by American hip hop obviously. But it has nothing to do with n word. It's simply because digga is how it sounds when you say the word fast and dicker has always meant someone you are close with, a friend

@ADHDSapphic @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts It's not a coincidence. I don't think that saying digga is racist, i understand the definition of it. But the word exists in the form that it does because of the n word. 100%. It's so insanely obvious that that's why it's spelled that way.

@foshannahsof @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts The fact that it looks and sounds similar to the n word is a coincidence but nothing more and has no antiblackness behind it

@ADHDSapphic @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts It does though. "Digga" was popularized as slang through german hip-hop. German hip-hop was influenced by American hip-hop, obviously. The word changed from dicker to digga because the latter sounds/looks more similar to the n word big dawg.

@foshannahsof @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts Except that is not what happened. Because if they wanted to use the n word, they would have said the n word big dawg. The word Digga has nothing to do with black American culture or the n word.

@ADHDSapphic @SSuisei9928 @MrGoodByts That digga is obviously a word that was spread through german hip-hop culture because of its phonetic proximity to the n word and that just saying "over here it means bro" doesn't change the fact that the term exists downstream of black American culture.

Hi I'm Ki and I'm 6'1 just fyi guys
I know you guys have to be forced into decades of financial debt frequently, but actually in Europe, most of us would like not to have to take a loan so we can have our house be 20°c colder than it is outside.

@tekniik_ @MrGoodByts Yeah exactly. Like, it's not a coincidence that digga became popular with the rise of rap/hip-hop in Germany. The intention isn't racist but the slang word is so obviously downstream of American rap culture.

@MrGoodByts actually when it was clearly changed from dicker to digga by hip hop artists in the 90's in Germany who are copying black american culture it's very clear what the intended purpose was. u can cope all u want but anyone with a brain can understand why it was changed to "digga"
