@49erIceMan Can carry the workload in the run game to allow CMC to rest or focus on being a receiver. Shanahan did say he wanted less wear and tear on McCaffrey but we’ll see if he actually does something about it

@seitzclan @49ers_Access Either it was pass protection or they didn’t feel confident enough in his pass catching skills to put him out wide. Shanahan wants someone that can relieve CMC some plays off but can still do “CMC” type play calls.

Yes, they wanted a guy who could set the edge, play inside and outside, as well as someone who can get to the QB. Not a sack specialist, but also not a guy who will average 3-5 sacks a season. That’s why I put an average of 8 and not 10 or 12. You don’t draft an edge who cannot get to the QB at pick 11

@Coach_Yac @Citizen510 Wasn’t that exactly how Armstead turned started out ? He was at DE but dealt with injuries early on. Then he moved to DT and sometimes edge situationally. Also was draft 3 picks later I believe at 14.

@Coach_Yac @Citizen510 Maybe I misread the draft selection but I thought they were looking for a guy who’s great at run defense and seals the edge. Also could kick inside and play DT sometimes like Armstead did.

@Citizen510 Idk he seems like a guy who will be good, but not a player who will average 8 sacks and 50+ pressures a season— something they were looking for in that draft. Obviously it’s early in his career and hopefully I’m wrong
