@JimPGillies It’s the least you can do, and never let it be said I didn’t do the least I could do😉 3 times in the last 13 years I’ve been at the side of special digs who shared their lives with me. With them until they crossed the rainbow bridge.🥹

If you wouldn’t, you don’t deserve to have that animal’s trust. My most beloved pet ever was my cat Pepper. Got her when I was 12. She was with me through high school, came to university with me. Came when I whistled. Slept on my bed, usually in the crook of my right arm, every night we were under the same roof. Said goodbye when I was 32 (yup…20 years). She passed resting on my lap, after I fed her her favourite treats for the last time, paying the “premium” for the vet to come to my house so she’d not be stressed by the car ride. Seriously, I don’t want to know you if you’d NOT be with them at the end. You were their whole world; you have a DUTY to ease their passage. End of rant.
Thrilla the Gorilla@ThrillaRilla369

Would you stay in the room and hold your dog at the vet during their final breath? 🐕

@JimPGillies It’s nice to have a leader you can be proud of in these times. We Americans have given ourselves over to a bad joke. Darkness and hate rule a once proud country to your south. Please forgive our poor judgement for 45/47.🥹

I'm a "socially liberal/fiscally conservative" type who has voted across the political spectrum (and, let's face it, nobody seemingly cares about 'fiscal conservatism' anymore, so perhaps I'm a dinosaur.) That said, I think Carney is doing an EXCELLENT job. Keep it up sir!
guyfelicella🇨🇦🍁@guyfelicella

If Mark Carney had joined the Conservative Party and was doing the exact same things he’s doing today, conservative influencers would be applauding him nonstop. And let’s be honest, I know plenty of conservatives who already admit, "I like Carney".

@JimPGillies @TMFOtter @DivaQBBQ Great thread🇨🇦🏒🇺🇸🥅🏅well said by all contributors 🤷‍♂️ was a great view and as a Minnesota born hockey fan, reminiscent of the old hockey note American skaters look at the puck, Canadian skate heads up looking to the net.🤷🇨🇦 a great goalie looks to stop the NEXT shot only‼️🥅🏅

Yup. Canada was the best team today. Hellebuyck was the best player. (I’m actually thrilled for him…he’s been labeled a “choker” an awful lot over the years, and he’s amazing. He erased that personal demon today and good for him.) I don’t like 3-vs-3 OT, but the rules were set and known before tournament started, so no whining there (I hope in future medal games are decided by 5-vs-5 OT played until definitive winner…no shootout, but that’s for 2030). I was yelling, “No, don’t pinch!” as Makar pinched in OT leading to the turnover and final rush. Nothing Binnington could do about it…Jack Hughes is an incredible sniper. And that’s game. USA won, fairly. Canada lost, fairly. Congrats…and mad respect for skating Johnny Hockey’s jersey around in celebration and having his kids join in team picture. He would have been there…he SHOULD have been there…THAT was the best moment of the Olympics for me (as I sit writing this in the airport in Calgary - the city where he played so long and so beautifully). See you at the next World Cup…bring your ‘A’ game.

Canadian here by birth. Grew up with hockey my whole life. Went to high school in Parry Sound (the home of Bobby Orr) Went to games my entire life in Canada and the US. Dated a few hockey players as well. 🙄 You don’t speak for all of us. I know puck well. USA won. Fairly. And they deserve to celebrate 🎉 and be proud of their Gold Medals. They got the goal - Canada didn’t - that’s how this works. You might not like it, but you need to get over it. Everything else - every other stat you throw is irrelevant. Goals in net 🥅 win games. It’s not complicated.
JD Bunkis@JDBunkis

Honestly if you’re an American celebrating that win you’re a casual who doesn’t know puck. Totally fine, grow the game.

@grsrounder Current price = $433.09. Equals market cap of $12.3B or EV of $11.8B (mkt cap less $497MM nert cash). EV of 17.2x trailing FCF. Below are average quarterly valuations paid during quarters when they've actively been repurchasing shares. Do with this what you will.

Have a friend who has a family member perennially chasing, "The next big thing." And, of course, they are always trying to get my friend to buy in...because It's the next big thing. (Generousity!) My friend, knowing the (abysmal) track record of this family member will often chuck the latest pitch my way...(I think they're looking to "poke the bear" and know that I have a habit of taking bait...) When asked, "What do you think about this one?" my response (cleaned up for public consumption) is usually a variant of, "I wouldn't kiss her with YOUR lips." Here's one from last November: Strive Asset Management (NASDAQ: ASST). In their own words, "Strive exists to set the new standard of value creation, where capital compounds in Bitcoin, performance is measured against it, and shareholder value is maximized through our disciplined treasury strategy. We lead by example for our portfolio companies, building a world class public Bitcoin treasury company and driving long run value." I noted that it looked like a cash-burning mess to me...and that it was a good trick to lose $24 million on less than $5 million in revenue; it was an even better trick to manage a negative gross margin, and an even BETTER better trick to somehow get IPO investors to pay 200x revenues for it. (I know...I know..."storehouse of value" and I just don't get it...trust me, heard it all before...but this, paradoxically ISN'T a story about Bitcoin or crypto...it's about a publicly-traded company whose presumtive value is solely tied up in an "asset" where it has no ability to control outcomes). Laughing over beers, asked friend what differentiated this one from any number of other "Bitcoin Treasuries". The family member's response, "All other Treasuries are expensive," (again, 200x revenues), "This is a startup. Crypto is gonna explode!!!" And apparently some big name in the crypto world had bought a bunch (so...coat-tailing!) We just circled back for a follow-on laugh. The chart below illustrates how the family member has done since buying three months back. Told friend that they should share said chart with family member and ask them to deconstruct what went wrong. Their response, "Ha! Yeah, it's bizarre because you can show him proof of his disasters and he simply will not acknowledge it." And I kind of feel that that's a metaphor for a lot going on in the world right now.

@ArunCherian12 It’s weird… …some people see companies making news and they just HAVE 👏 TO 👏 BUY 👏 IT, often at any price. I see stocks in the headlines and run the other way as fast as I can. We are not the same. Boring is beautiful.
