False 9s are meant to create situational numerical superiority in buildup, not to be the primary source of ball progression. If your system or deep ball handlers can’t progress the ball without the striker dropping as deep as the DM, then something is fundamentally wrong, either with the structure or the personnel. It’s that simple. Every elite team that has successfully used false 9s don’t depend on them to buildup from the back to mask their buildup personnel/system’s inability to progress the ball. Your striker spending most of the time in deeper areas reduces your threat in the final third and presence in the box.
