Not to sound dramatic, but your kitchen sink is not as clean as you think. That same sink you’re using to wash turkey has handled dirty plates, raw food residue, grease, even sponge bacteria that you haven’t changed in months. Studies have shown kitchen sinks can carry more germs than toilets, we’re talking E. coli, Salmonella, all those silent troublemakers. When you drop meat inside there, especially without proper disinfection, you’re basically exposing it to cross-contamination. And rinsing meat doesn’t even remove bacteria, it actually spread it around your kitchen through splashes. Best practice is to use a clean bowl dedicated for food prep, rinse meat with salt or white vinegar to help reduce cross contamination and focus on proper cooking to kill germs Your sink is for washing plates, not your protein.
