Hate speech & disinformation online shape how non-status, immigrant & refugee women are seen/treated. Algorithms amplify racist stereotypes and turn structural violence into “cultural problems”, fueling discrimination & hiding the real barriers survivors face. #16DaysOfActivism

She never took that photo, but AI made a fake one anyway. Deepfake “nudification” is being used to harass + silence women & the harm is more real than ever. For #16DaysOfActivism, we’re working with an artist to highlight the intersections between technology & GBV. @OCASI_Policy

For Day 8 of #16DaysOfActivism, we hosted a webinar on “Navigating Tech Abuse: Supporting Survivors Through Safety and Strategy” with @endvawnetwork. Participants explored TFGBV, tech-safety strategies, and ways to support survivors. #EndGBV #TechSafety

On Day 7 of the #16DaysofActivism,we highlight how digital visibility, safety, and economic opportunity are deeply connected for GBV survivors. Survivors should not have to choose between safety and opportunity. Every survivor deserves to be seen, valued, and safe!

TFGBV is real, and growing. Those already facing inequities offline are targeted most online: women & girls, Black women, 2SLGBTQIA+, immigrant & refugee women, Indigenous women, women with disabilities, older women. Safety online is a right. #16DaysOfActivism@OCASI_Policy
