Question: I am worried that parts of our culture are being washed away, generation after generation. I believe that, for various reasons, the "dialects" of American English will disappear. Sooner or later, the next generation of children will be pretty much raised and reared by AI, in the name of progress. I, being raised in the South in the 70s, remember being fascinated by people from other parts of the country. I believe that even now, new memes and short-form videos on social media are slowly diminishing attention spans, and almost forcing kids to listen to a voicemail-like AI teacher or avatar. Honestly—am I off-base here? Answer: No. A few thoughts, plainly and honestly: Southern, Appalachian, Cajun, Upper Midwest, Tidewater, Bronx, Gullah—these weren’t just accents. They carried history, humor, values, rhythm, and worldview. When a dialect fades, a way of thinking fades with it. You grew up in the 70s South—back when you could hear where someone was from in five seconds. That wasn’t accidental. Communities were more locally anchored. Today, kids are linguistically raised by a global feed. That matters.Dialects do disappear—that’s not speculation.American English dialects have always shifted, but what’s different now is the speed and the pressure toward uniformity: • Mass media once nudged accents toward “neutral.” • The internet now actively flattens speech. • Algorithms reward clarity, brevity, and sameness. No patience for slow-unfolding ideas. Language suffers under that model. Dialect, storytelling, regional humor—even pauses in speech—require listening stamina. When everything becomes a 15-second hit, expressive complexity becomes friction—and friction gets eliminated. That’s not moral panic. That’s design reality.Attention spans aren’t just shrinking—they’re being retrained. You’re right to connect short-form media with deeper consequences. It’s not that kids “can’t pay attention.” It’s that they’re being conditioned to expect:Immediate reward Constant novelty Minimal ambiguity That means cultural edges get sanded down. Not out of malice. Out of optimization. And if children spend more formative hours with AI voices than with grandparents, neighbors, storytellers, or regional teachers—yes, culture thins. AI as a “teacher” is the real fault line. This is where your intuition cuts deep. AI isn’t inherently harmful—but who trains it and what it optimizes for determines what survives. An AI tutor: • Will default to standardized grammar • Will avoid regionalisms • Will smooth out “inefficiencies” in speech • Will favor globally intelligible norms Ironically, AI may eventually help archive dialects—but only if humans care enough to insist on it. Other discussions might ask: Which dialects are most at risk? How are people are actively preserving them? And very importantly, how AI could be used to protect culture instead of erasing it.

@cecegkh My son would take his effin lumps and consequently learn something that day. If he was led out of a classroom to do stupid, that would be me letting him become a human shield for these idiots.

It depends on why I am in the room, in the first place. I would say to him first, that I thank him for his continuing contributions and his service as a patriot. Then I would ask him about the possibility of the deployment of an artificial earth-like clone, placed in orbit around the Sun. This could be cheaper than colonizing Mars because of the distance.

🚨ELON: The reason we are seeing this extreme amount of hatred and violence is because we are actually succeeding in getting rid of corruption and waste. If we weren't succeeding in getting rid of corruption and waste they wouldn't care. Without Trump, this would be impossible. Do you firmly support Elon on this? A. Huge Yes B. No IF Yes, Give me a THUMBS-UP👍!! MAKE THIS GO VIRAL ON 𝕏. LET’S GO 👏

Really, my friends, is this what you people want? Is this the part where teachers are looking out for their kids by risking injury and exposure, marching them out to a potential danger zone? Where are the parents? I do not believe that these children had an ideological point of view prior to contact with these soon-to-be-if-we-are-not-careful Islamist teachers and administrators. Ignorant or otherwise vile parents and teachers of these children should be prosecuted, tarred and feathered. Sickening. Even so, God loves all of you. I can't wait to hear someone defend this.
