@maciejgryka @mipsytipsy in my strategic work I've heard this called 'even over'. If your 'even over' doesn't make sense ("excellence, even over...not excellence??") then it's not a valuable metric.

I saw this somewhere and it stuck: values are only real if another reasonable org could take the opposite choice. So “excellence”, “integrity” etc. don’t work because obviously everyone claims that. “Move fast and break things” is good from this POV and your “hire adults” works too (not an obvious choice!)

It's like how almost every list of company values contains the exact same bullshit about "Excellence, Hard Work, Integrity, Customers First, Teamwork, Passion." Gross. But each company has its own unique character, culture, reputation, conventions. Vibes. That shit is real.
