@IGADON2 When you’re done. Go straight to Alien 2. It’s amazing. It’s one of the best written movies. Don’t watch 3 if you like the ending of 2. You can skip 3 and go to other great movies.

Cap Factor that you are using here is moot You asked how much land is needed. 1 meg of storage would be about 4 tractor trailers in space. math you are using does not correllate

@joshernstrom @BogartBoomer @DiabloCanyonCA 1 meg Solar is about 4 acres roughly. Now run the the math. Cap factor is not even a relevant stat in this lesson. Diablo will cost about 9b to run until 2030 and will barely break even as opposed to the near Zero cost of operations and power.

20,250,000 standard 400-watt solar panels (using a typical U.S. solar capacity factor of 25%). That’s right around 44,550–48,600 acres (roughly 70–76 square miles) based on the standard utility-scale solar land-use range of 5–7 acres per MW of installed (nameplate) capacity. You know, as opposed to Diablo Canyon’s 750 acres.

Here’s a video I took while we were shooting. You can see on the upper right Tomas pouring water into a tube that runs between 2 panes of glass in front of the handheld camera Greig operates, giving a smeary, drippy look. Ryan stands in a cage of blinking IR lights which are invisible to the naked eye, but in the monitor it’s beautiful. We used this method for closeups. Medium-wides we did on the spaceship set with fewer lights & a lot of digital augmentation/replacement from ILM, and wides were fully digital from ILM, to match this look.
