@jschultzf3 IVR and percentile, gamma terrain, volatility regime VIX/VVIX/VIX term structure. If it’s a single stock, I’d consider PE ratio and price relative to 200DMA. And while that sounds fancy, it’s really only scratching the surface. I’ve much to learn.

@jschultzf3 Good metaphor. I think the #1 thing an options trader can learn is reading the terrain.

Optimal doesn’t exist. Your account size, experience level, and risk tolerance aren’t in any backtest or study. Research can do a great job of telling you which forest to be in, but it can't tell you exactly which path to follow or the next step you should take.

@jschultzf3 Lots of SPX puts bought today. delta, gamma, and vega were 3:1 puts to calls. They call all be sold - but it's not a great bullish case right now.

Trading undefined risk strategies in your IRA doesn't mean changing your strategy. You still want theta, directional bias, and the higher probabilities of short premium. The trick? Cheap OTM options that technically define your risk and slash your buying power requirement. @jschultzf3
