I hope this will ultimately lead to a renovation of academia away from publish or perish and towards “only publish things that took you 3+ years to write and genuinely move a field forward”. I think these kinds of publications should constitute a *major* hit on one’s reputation.

This demonstrates that authors are not reading their own papers before submission. After all, reference errors are easy to catch. Thus it suggests tons of errors also in the math, methods, results, ... Sad to see human slop being exacerbated by AI slop.

In my home state of Louisiana, there is an 85 mile stretch of land called “Cancer Alley.” It’s where the oil and gas refineries poison Black & brown people & where every household has a resident who is suffering from or died of cancer.
