A couple of days ago, I spent time walking around the Towers, stopping by offices—especially those of our junior staff—to say a huge and heartfelt thank you for all of your contributions throughout this year. 2025 was a testament to our collective strength. I recently toured the starting point of the landmark Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project alongside the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo. This visit underscores the profound national importance of this strategic endeavour. Let me be unequivocal: this administration is unwavering in delivering this project on time. As the Honourable Minister rightly stated, this infrastructure is far more than a pipeline—it is the backbone of our future economic vitality. Upon completion, it will unlock unprecedented opportunities, power our industries, energise our communities, and propel Nigeria into a new era of energy security and industrial growth. I stand firmly in support of this vision. I commend the dedicated team whose Thirty-One Million Man-Hours are building a tangible legacy. The AKK Pipeline is a cornerstone of our industrial heritage and a deliberate pivot toward a future of resurgence. By harnessing gas as our transition fuel, we are laying the foundation for sustainable prosperity and declaring our readiness to power our own destiny.

My daughter Fatima departed at her appointed time and looking forward to meeting her in Jannah by Allah’s grace. While the loss is great by all measures, we remain grateful to God for all his mercies. I didn’t know the depth of her connections with many people and what she meant to many. Despite her physical challenges, she is able touch hearts in very soothing ways, including me. Above all, her demise brought many people together and demonstrated that we all can care for others irrespective of our social circumstances. I profoundly thank our leaders, family members, friends, associates, colleagues, our teachers and the countless unmentioned that joined us to pray for the repose of her soul and for consoling us.

The Red Line Rail has officially kicked off its invitational passenger operations. This achievement represents a major advancement in reshaping public transportation in Lagos, bringing us closer to a modern, efficient, and interconnected city. The Red Line will operate four daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado. This essential route will not only facilitate commuting for thousands but also alleviate congestion and enhance the quality of life for our residents. Morning departures from Oyingbo will begin at 8:30 AM, making stops at key stations such as Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, before arriving at Agbado by 9:37 AM. The trains will adhere strictly to their schedules, ensuring order and efficiency in our rail services. This initial passenger operation allows us to continually assess the system's safety, reliability, and efficiency, while gathering valuable feedback from passengers. This is a crucial step towards full commercial operations. Once fully operational, the Red Line is anticipated to run 20 trips daily, accommodating over 500,000 passengers each day. This rail line is more than just transportation; it’s a vital link that connects our communities and drives economic growth. To be part of this transformative experience, please register at the provided link. Systems and consequences work hard in hand. Beat the traffic once, get a fine of N25,000 and attend a boring 5 hour course. Second offender, N50,000 + course. 3rd offender, lose your license. This will change that culture of lawlessness on Abuja roads within 2 years.

Dear @GovWike, well done for the excellent work you have done in FCT-Abuja in such a short time. But two main things that you need to do now, sir: 1. Street lights within Wuse, Garki, Asokoro, Maitama, Utako and other areas within the city centre. 2. Traffic light cameras. Because the lawlessness is too much. The revenue that will be generated from point 2 above can be used to pay for the maintenance of the streets lights (point 1). Again, great work done so far 👏🏽

Their passing is an overwhelming tragedy that is shocking beyond comprehension. I extend my condolences to the Wigwe and Ogunbanjo families, the business community, and all those impacted by this harrowing incident. PRESS RELEASE Climate Change: NNPC Ltd., U.S. Govt., Deloitte Collaborate on Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction from OML 34 The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) is working in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources (DOS-ENR) under the Energy and Mineral Governance Program (EMGP) and Deloitte, as the implementing partner to meet its net-zero carbon goals by embarking on a project aimed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through methane abatement plans and strategies consistent with international leading practices. The pilot project which is at its conceptual stage was the focus of a three-day Technical Assistance on Oil & Gas Sector Global Methane Abatement and Decarbonisation Workshop which kicked off at the PTDF Tower, in Abuja, on Monday. The workshop, which is a follow-up on the July 2023 capacity building Training on Methane Baselining and Organisational Design and the Development of a Methane Technology Evaluation Framework, is aimed at defining the critical success elements for the Methane Abatement Pilot Project Implementation, Scaling and Financing. Some of the critical elements of the project tabled at the workshop include determining the scope of the project, establishing a baseline for methane and carbon emissions from the selected operation sites, collecting relevant data on the selected sites and helping the Deloitte consultants understand the operations and expectations of NNPC Ltd. Participants at the workshop unanimously selected OML 34 located onshore in Western Niger Delta which has the Utorogu and Ughelli Fields as the operation site for the pilot stage of the project. Participants were drawn from relevant NNPC Ltd.’s subsidiaries and Departments such as Exploration & Production; New Energy; Gas Infrastructure; Health, Safety, and Environment, as well as the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, and Federal Government agencies like the National Council on Climate Change. The project technical training is sponsored by the United States Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources’ Energy and Mineral Governance Programme (EMGP). Olufemi O. I have been on the case of passport reforms for 10 years now. If @BTOofficial is the Minister and CGI Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju is the Comptroller-General of Immigration that eventually solves it, they will have my enduring respect. When we say that Governance is hard, it is not the process of producing a passport that is that hard (even though it is a complex security printing operation that is like producing currency notes), it is breaking the 40-year stranglehold of organised inefficiency and corruption that successive Ministers and Comptrollers-General have not been able to break that is harder than rocket science. I hope that they can do it. They have my best wishes.

PRESS RELEASE We’ll Use Gas to Revolutionise Nigeria’s Power, Industrial Sectors --Kyari …As NNPC Ltd., UTM Offshore, Delta State Sign Shareholders Agreement on Floating LNG The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, has said that the company will utilise Nigeria’s abundant gas resources to revolutionize the nation’s power and industrial sectors. Kyari disclosed this during a signing ceremony of a Shareholders Agreement (SHA) between the NNPC Ltd., UTM Offshore (an indigenous company), and the Delta State Government on the development of the first Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility in Nigeria, held at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, on Tuesday. “In the next 2-3 years, we will use gas to bring about a revolution in our country. The outcomes will be clear on the table; there will be prosperity, and value will be created. Not just creating gas for export but progressing on all our initiatives of bringing gas into the domestic market. Our backbone infrastructures are almost ready to ensure we achieve that. Once that happens, we will see the immediate impact on the power sector, gas-based industries and several other collateral value that this will create,” the GCEO stated. Describing the FLNG project as a task that must be done, Kyari said Nigeria is a gas country whose abundant gas resources have been under-utilised. He stressed that the new focus is to monetise such gas resources for the benefit of the country and the world. He said the FLNG Project clearly fits into the Federal Government’s gas aspirations under the Decade of Gas Initiative and in line with Mr. President’s clear agenda to create a gas hub so that value can be maximised, and Nigeria achieves the prosperity that it deserves. Reiterating NNPC Ltd.’s commitment towards the project, Kyari said the FLNG was the first of its kind that the company was taking keen interest and holding an equity in. “More than this, there are several Floating LNGs that we are promoting, including fixed LNG projects. We are happy to collaborate with the Delta State Government. We will take practical steps to get it done. We are committed to delivering this project in time, on schedule and in the best possible cost,” the GCEO added. Earlier in his remarks, the Group Managing Director of UTM Offshore Limited, Mr. Julius Rone described the SHA execution as another significant milestone in actualizing Nigeria’s first indigenous FLNG. He thanked President Bola Tinubu for his dedication towards developing the Nation’s gas resources, as exemplified in the recently held COP28 Conference in Dubai, UAE, where the President made a commitment for the complete flare-down and use of Nigeria’s gas resources as a transition fuel to achieve the global transition to cleaner energy fuels and reduce methane emission in oil and gas operations. He also lauded the GCEO of NNPC Ltd for his leadership and commitment in ensuring that Nigeria's gas resources are developed within the provisions of the Petroleum Industry act (PIA) 2021. Also speaking, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori said that the Delta State Government, which has 40% of Nigeria’s proven gas reserves, decided to take 8% equity because of its conviction of the strategic importance of the project to the national economy. Apart from producing over 300,000 metric tonnes of LPG (cooking gas) which will be dedicated to the domestic market, the Governor said the FLNG project will also help to mitigate the environmental hazards in the Niger Delta by reducing gas flaring; creating ample employment opportunities and ensuring the switch from kerosene and firewood to cleaner energy, thus improving the health and general wellbeing of the people. In attendance to witness the execution of the SHA was the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, who said the FLNG will ensure the monetisation of Nigeria’s gas resources to drive the economy and attain energy security. Speaking briefly on the project, the Executive Vice President, Gas, Power & New Energy, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye lauded the Federal Government for its belief in the ability of gas to drive and accelerate economic growth which has been exemplified by the initiative to create a gas economy, especially through the Decade of Gas. The FLNG facility is expected to produce 1.81 to 2.72 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) of gas. The project equity has NNPC Ltd., UTM Offshore and the Delta State Government holding 20%, 72% and 8% stakes respectively. Olufemi O. Soneye Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd.
