@ty_olsen @sebastiansajda It may be different with some of the newer journalism sources, but when Black Press was my community news source, I felt pressure as an organizer to put out press releases that could be published as is, to fill in the gaps in BP's arts & culture coverage.

@sebastiansajda I also do not need press releases by people telling me some business is opening or someone has some magical insight. Press releases are an attempt to wrestle control of news away from independents and towards the interests of ppl w/ money to pay comms ppl.

@ty_olsen A LOT of jobs out there require a driver's license that functionally should not require a driver's license or car. As someone who doesn't drive for a several reasons, it can be a huge barrier to finding work. This is one ironic example of the norm, and def an accessibility issue.

So the Township of Langley is hiring a 'disability management advisor' that requires the person to have a driver's license. Which could obviously present a barrier to a fair number of people with disabilities who might themselves want the job. civicjobs.ca/jobs?id=91096&…
