@FLTDOC1 I used a 30 exactly once in my career, and the patient was no where near 300lbs.

There are some pretty incredible and expensive battery powered loading systems on ambulances these days. How many of you out there have actually busted your back loading a 300 lb patient with something like this?

@MedicMatt17512 @clairezagorski Hi @clairezagorski , I did do my masters on this, and published one of the chapters looking at best metrics for tracking opioids, or more specifically how the way we do monitor is really bad. let me know if you want to connect. johnsmith{at}trentu.ca

@clairezagorski I believe you may want to connect with my good friend @lost_sheep30. His masters thesis was in this area and he might have some good insights. (DM me if you’d like to be connected directly, not sure how often he’s on here anymore.)

@MedicMatt17512 @garius Correct: per my grandfather: someone bought the monkey in port and smuggled it aboard. Monkey lived in with the stokers on their births. Unfortunately monkey was trained as a pick pocket and was stealing stuff and hiding it in the owners bunk, so they got rid of it quick.

I should say that ship's cats are a MASSIVE obsession of mine. They're always utterly beloved by their crews, especially in war time, but also MASSIVELY under-documented. Both in terms of photos and records of their names, and when they served.

Ship's cat on HMCS Sackville, WW2. (At least I believe it's from Sackville. That's where I found the photo. It was in their random draw full of photos found onboard, which they let me rummage through last year)

@Rockurownium Oh man this is tough! So hard to please everyone. This year we’re doing fanny packs at my service which the committee all thought we’re great. Then I mentioned it to a friend and they laughed at it. 🤷‍♂️ In past yrs we’ve done cutlery sets for lunches, dry bags, travel mugs…

@jab_doc Once we make patient contact, reguardless of the reason for the call, it’s a full assessment and PCR for every patient. If they don’t want to go, it’s a refusal. A patient is anyone who an ambulance is called for.

What do y’all do for “lift assist” calls. Our lift assist calls are ems calls. We capture refusals and vitals etc. Too many of these calls we went back and found the pt much worse. The random /sudden weakness/syncope was a symptom.

@MedicMatt17512 @OPSEUAmbDiv Possible theory: are we using different bands in RF spectrum which require larger technology? Probably not, but maybe? UK digital infrastructure is probably more advanced then our.

@OPSEUAmbDiv I’m struggling to understand how the decades overdue replacement to our radios is still a hip hurting size while our colleagues in the UK have ones that can clip to their jackets.

Longer antenna options provide for a better range of 2-5% for the updated Digital Mobile Radio project. This may be of benefit to rural services that have transmission challenges, though the length of the antenna may add other safety concerns. Discuss with the JHSC/employer.

@MatthewHumar If the review is from our Base Hospital (certifying agency) it’s called a Variance Report. If it’s from the paramedic service it’s called an ACE (Ambulance Call Evaluation) because they evaluate our ACR (Ambulance Call Report). (ACR is a legacy term in legislation)

Att: Paramedics We are writing a perspective on error and patient safety in paramedicine, and are wanting to acknowledge the language in this space (I'm being clinically reviewed or I've received a clinical breach). We were wondering what phrasing is used where you work?

@ERshitmagnet It’s not necessarily healthy, but when my brother and sister-in-law had their first, we sent them a skip the dishes gift card. That way they could order what ever they wanted. When she was having a bad day, she could order herself something.

NEED SUGGESTIONS!!! one of my closest friends is giving birthday in a week and I unfortunately can’t be there due to this contract. I need to know of a food-meal service that can deliver her prepped foods (frozen or fresh) without the hassle
