Thinking about my UK PhD and its effect on both countries:
> The UK invested in me and my education
> Everyone benefits from my research
> The US benefits from (a) my teaching incl. student supervision, (b) economic value if I ever found a startup

I'm an academic, I left the UK, and I brought a loved one with me to the US.
After ten months here, I'm convinced the intellectual environment and resources here are decisively better than at the best places in the UK.

Netz now in full colour mixed reality and with improved hand tracking! updated it to connect to external MIDI devices. the video shows some of the per-note pitch bending and modulation possibilities running on the Vital synth on my laptop.
