тАЬHow many Jains are in the Indian Armed Forces?тАЭ Enough to have names like Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman, Vir Chakra, who shot down a Pakistani F-16 and became a national symbol of courage. He comes from a Tamil Jain family/community. Enough to have Sqn Ldr Mohinder Kumar Jain, Vir Chakra, who fought in the 1971 Indo-Pak war and was decorated for gallantry. Enough to have Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, AVSM, SM, rise to command Southern Command. Enough to have Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, AVSM, VSM, serve as FOC-in-C Eastern Naval Command. But even if there was only one, your question would still be cheap. A community that is barely 0.4% of India does not need a patriotism certificate from keyboard warriors running religion-wise Army audits on X. The Army belongs to India, not to your hate spreadsheet.

This is rich. You first turned a small local society matter into public outrage. You allowed it to become Jain vs Marathi, Gujarati, Marwari debate. You created the тАЬus versus themтАЭ mood. And now you are blaming a white line for creating тАЬus versus themтАЭ? The white line did not poison people. Your amplification did. A small internal matter could have been solved within the society. Instead, it was dragged online, given a community angle, and served to thousands of people with moral outrage. Now after the damage is done, suddenly you are speaking about unity, harmony and coexistence. Very convenient. Common spaces should remain peaceful, yes. But peace is not protected by publicly shaming one community and feeding suspicion against them. If unity was your concern, you would have asked for dialogue. You chose outrage. So please donтАЩt blame the white line for division. The real territorial marking happened when you marked Jains and Gujaratis as the тАЬotherтАЭ in peopleтАЩs minds.

Religious territory marking can become dangerous to unity and harmony because it transforms shared spaces into symbols of group identity rather than places that belong equally to everyone. When a common area begins to visibly represent one religion, some people may feel included while others may feel excluded, even if that was never the intention. Over time, such markings can create an тАЬus versus themтАЭ mindset, encouraging communities to see space through the lens of religious ownership rather than shared citizenship and coexistence. What starts as a symbol of faith can gradually become a symbol of division, competition, or territorial influence. A truly harmonious society is one where people are free to practice their faith, but common spaces remain common, welcoming, neutral, and equally accessible to all. Unity is strengthened when people share spaces as equals. It is weakened when symbols suggest that certain spaces belong more to one group than to another.

What is this urge to impose Marathi as a certificate of belonging? A family living in Mumbai for 4 or 5 generations, paying taxes, creating jobs and contributing to the city is not тАЬMumbaikarтАЭ if their Marathi is weak? But someone who migrated to Dombivli 10 or 15 years ago from Satara, Raigad or any other district automatically becomes original тАЬbhumiputraтАЭ of Mumbai? Brilliant logic. Respect Marathi. Be proud of Marathi. But donтАЩt reduce it into a loyalty test to decide who belongs and who doesnтАЩt. Mumbai was not built by one language alone. It was built by people who came here, stayed here, worked here, traded here, struggled here, paid here and grew the city together. Language pride is beautiful. Language policing is insecurity dressed up as pride. This is not Marathi asmita. This is manufactured anger.

Public Statement I would like to sincerely thank all media organizations, journalists, and reporters who covered this issue and helped bring attention to the concerns that were raised. Your interest and coverage played an important role in ensuring that the matter received the attention it deserved. However, I now request all media representatives to kindly refrain from visiting our property and housing society for further coverage of this issue. For nearly a week, the residents of the society have experienced continuous disruption due to repeated visits, interviews, and media activity in the common areas. While the coverage was appreciated, it is important that normalcy returns for all residents. I am pleased to state that the dispute has now been resolved through dialogue and cooperation. The white patti that was at the center of the disagreement has been removed, and the affected area has been restored and repainted to its original condition. The matter has therefore reached a satisfactory conclusion. I believe that when a dispute is resolved peacefully and constructively, it is equally important to know when to close the chapter and move forward. In the interest of maintaining harmony, respecting the privacy of residents, and allowing the society to function normally, I consider this issue closed. I once again thank the media for its support and understanding, and I respectfully request everyone to allow the residents to return to their daily lives without further disturbance. Thank you.

You are idiot to create a perception of whole Community based on this single example. Imagine there are so many Maratha's ranting on Social media abusing and calling Gujaratis, Marwadis & Jains as "Outsiders" despite the fact that they are more Mumbaikars then the ones calling them outsiders. They have stayed here for last 5 - 6 generations & Someone from Satara who recently 10 - 15 years back purchased a flat in Dombivli claims to be "Bhumiputra" of Mumbai. And if even if they created the perception of whole Marathi community based on such abusive idiots example.

Why don't you speak about this? Or is this also cribbing for you These marathi entrepreneurs should start discriminating like Gujju Marwari businesses - maybe then you will understand the pain behind cribbing - unfortunately for us and fortunately for your lot, they are tolerant and accepting - real cosmopolitans unlike your favourite communities

This is exactly the problem. You are calling a manufactured outrage an тАЬissue.тАЭ Every community likes to live around familiar food habits, culture, language, lifestyle and comfort. Gujaratis, Marwaris and Jains doing it suddenly becomes a crime? Before 1960, Bombay State itself included both Gujarat and Maharashtra. These communities did not land in Mumbai yesterday with a tourist visa. They have lived here, worked here, built here, paid taxes here, donated here and contributed here for generations. So please be careful before using тАЬsons of soilтАЭ as if it belongs to only one group. Mumbai is not the result of one communityтАЩs hard work. Mumbai is the outcome of Marathis, Gujaratis, Marwaris, Jains, Parsis, South Indians, Muslims and many others building the city together. And letтАЩs be honest, housing preferences exist everywhere. A Maharashtrian Brahmin may not rent his flat to a non-veg eating Marathi family. Then what will you call that? Anti-Marathi? Or personal preference? Even in the common village scenario of Maharashtra, people naturally live in social clusters. Different castes and communities often have their own lanes, vastis, mohallas, gavthan areas and traditional neighbourhoods. This is a social reality across Maharashtra, not some Gujarati-Marwari invention. Human beings naturally form groups around familiarity, food habits, trust, marriage networks, social comfort and lifestyle. The real issue is not cluster living. The real issue is politicians and influencers manufacturing anger among common people while privately doing business with the same communities they publicly provoke you against. Check who handles their accounts, finances, legal work, real estate deals and business partnerships. Publicly they provoke Marathi manoos. Privately they sit with the same Gujaratis, Marwaris and Jains they ask you to hate. And yes, many educated Marathi families themselves prefer peaceful and disciplined societies where there is less nuisance, less drunken chaos, fewer fights and better maintenance. If a society commands a premium because people want that lifestyle, that is not oppression. That is market reality. Everyone has preferences. Everyone wants comfort, peace and familiarity where they live. Stop calling only Gujarati, Marwari and Jain preferences an тАЬissue.тАЭ This is not a peopleтАЩs issue. This is a manufactured issue, packaged for emotion and sold to common Marathi people for political mileage.

This is not moral high ground. This is post-damage PR. First you dragged a small white-paint/flooring issue into public outrage. Then you allowed it to become Marathi vs Jain-Gujarati-Marwari. Then, after the Jains of that society showed restraint and let it go despite having permission and being within their rights, you posted a lecture on compassion. Many people who had no context were fed anger against an entire community. That damage will not be erased by one soft-focus post and folded-hands emoji. LetтАЩs be clear: the moral high ground was taken by the Jains of that society. They had permission. They had rights. Yet they stepped back for peace. You converted a local issue into community tension. That was juvenile, reckless, and ego-satisfying. You amplified bitterness in a city where Jains, Marathis, Gujaratis, and Marwaris have coexisted for generations. MumbaiтАЩs cosmopolitan fabric does not need reckless тАЬactivismтАЭ manufactured for engagement. рдЕрд╣рд┐рдВрд╕рд╛ is not only about not hitting someone. It is also about not poisoning communities against each other for online validation. White paint got removed. Congratulations. But in the process, you helped paint suspicion between communities.

Jainism is one of the most beautiful philosophies humanity has ever known. At its heart lies compassion not just for human beings, but for every living creature. Thank you.

тАЬTaking control over usтАЭ who exactly? If one painted white strip makes you believe Jains and Gujaratis are taking over Mumbai, that is not a fight against injustice. That is insecurity being sold as activism. The real issues of Marathi people are jobs, education, business, housing, skills and financial progress. But instead of talking about that, people are being taught to blame Jains, Gujaratis and other communities. Mumbai belongs to Marathi people, yes. But it does not belong only to Marathi people. Mumbai was built by Kolis, Marathi mill workers, Gujarati traders, Jain entrepreneurs, Marwari financiers, Parsi industrialists, Muslim artisans, South Indian professionals, North Indian workers and many others. Stop treating someone elseтАЩs success as your oppression. They moved ahead because they supported each other, gave capital, created networks and built institutions. We should learn from that, not hate them for it. Marathi asmita does not mean hatred for others. It means making our own people stronger. DonтАЩt direct your anger at Jains or Gujaratis. Direct it at the real reasons why our own people are falling behind. That is where the actual awakening is needed.

Absolutely. Jains have been one of the most peaceful, disciplined and economically productive communities in India, and Mumbai is a perfect example of that. Jains are not some new тАЬoutsidersтАЭ in Mumbai. Many Jain, Gujarati, Marwari and other trading communities have been part of MumbaiтАЩs commercial life for generations. Long before todayтАЩs political shouting matches, these communities were building businesses, creating jobs, supporting markets, contributing to trade, paying taxes and helping Mumbai grow into IndiaтАЩs financial capital. Their contribution is not limited to business either. Jains and similar mercantile communities have built schools, colleges, charitable hospitals, hostels, trusts, gaushalas, food charities and community institutions. Many of these institutions have helped people beyond their own community too. That is real social contribution, not just empty slogan-baazi. The reason Jains progressed is simple. They focused on education, discipline, savings, business, family values, networking and community support. They helped each other with capital, references and opportunities. They built systems instead of constantly playing victim. And that is exactly why some people resent them today. Instead of learning from their success, they attack them. Instead of asking тАЬwhat did this community do right?тАЭ, they ask тАЬwhy are they ahead of us?тАЭ That mindset will never create progress. The sad part is that some influencers and political opportunists are now using this resentment for their own benefit. One wants relevance, one wants views, one wants a ticket to some reality show, one wants votes, and one wants to become a local hero. For their personal agenda, they are ready to divide society and create hatred against peaceful communities. Mumbai did not become Mumbai because of one community alone. It became Mumbai because of coexistence. Marathi workers, Koli people, Gujaratis, Jains, Marwaris, Parsis, South Indians, North Indians, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and many others contributed in their own way. Remove this coexistence and Mumbai loses its soul. Jains are not the problem. The problem is the insecurity of those who cannot digest another communityтАЩs success. If a peaceful, hardworking, tax-paying, job-creating community looks like a threat to you, then the issue is not with that community. The issue is with your own mindset.

Jains - the real minority who never beg for special treatment, never play the victim card, never create trouble for anyone, contribute immensely to the economy, generate jobs, and live peacefully. If they seem like a problem to you, perhaps the problem lies with you.
