On April 9, an AmLaw 10 firm filed a motion in a $8.7B bankruptcy case.
It contained an AI hallucination: a fabricated quote from a Second Circuit case.
The firm self-reported it 9 days later.
BriefCatch's RealityCheck™ would have caught it in 30 seconds.

Opus 4.6 added to prinzbench. It scored 19/99, one point worse than Sonnet-4.5.
The Anthropic models' utter inability to thoroughly search the web and use tools continues to destroy their performance on my benchmark.
@LegalTechStrtUp We've spoken to so many lawyers that already use Claude or somethign similar. This helps them research questions, review or draft briefs with a connection to real case law data and citator treatments.
Midpage, a legal research provider, launches an MCP connection with Claude, as reported in this post by Artificial Lawyer (AL). From the AL post:
"Midpage, the startup focused on legal research, has launched an MCP connection with Claude, to fuse a general LLM with a legal-specific product. (See AL interview with CEO Otto von Zastrow below.) The news comes as Anthropic has just announced it’s moving into offering distinct legal tech skills via plugins – the first major LLM company to do so – see AL article here.
"Midpage, which is based in New York told Artificial Lawyer, that by connecting the two they were ‘unlocking seamless, powerful legal research and drafting workflows right inside Claude desktop or web. In short, this means you can give Claude access to a dataset of case law and a citator." artificiallawyer.com/2026/02/02/mid…#legaltechnology#legaltech@midpageAI
Who is that newcomer for legal research?
This skills.law and LTH review shows the number of ALM 200 customers.
What it doesn't show: We already have over 100 smaller firms signed.
@jbqlaw@quinnemanuel maybe midpage is next on the podcast? Could do a research deep dive with @AdamSFeldman on how to predict/research what each scotus judge will think about your argument

@midpageAI
very cool stuff. citator in the works apparently.
We'll turn frantic-word-vomit queries into structured search terms with boolean connectors. 👇
This is a simple quality of life improvement that goes a long way. After positive feedback to some early testers, we're excited to bring this feature to everyone soon.
