@gapingmaws I'm sure it's possible, but I bet that all the people who could do it have also said "why would I do that?". If you didn't want to mess with the application window itself, you could fake it by having a game take a screenshot of the desktop beforehand to use as a separate layer.

Can someone who knows about computers tell me if it’s possible to make a video game with a hole in the middle? Like this:

@thegrayfruit Grandia (PS1) displayed all combatants along a timeline and each one moved faster or slower (toward their turn) based on their speed stat. I can't remember if it also stated their selected action, but you could skip their turn by attacking as it became their turn in the timeline.

are there RPGs out there that tell you more information during battles? I feel like I'd love a turn based combat system where you know exactly what your opponents will do, what the turn order will be, the properties of each move, etc.

@Nitos_n @hoolopee Yeah, Dead Rising is the one I remember having nightmarishly small font as we moved away from CRTs and games demanded higher resolutions.

@hoolopee I find that most 6th gen and prior games fonts are really ugly and difficult to parse unless you're playing on a CRT or with a good shader

Apparently if you allow players to backtrack to older levels, your game only has one level. Sorry, System Shock 1 + 2, Arx Fatalis, Prey 2017, Stalker, Dark Souls, ect. Making games was a mistake.
