If the evidence is deemed insufficient, the proceedings will halt and Duterte may be released from detention after the lapse of his arrest warrant unless the prosecutors present new evidence.

Should there be sufficient evidence to confirm the charges, Duterte will remain in detention and will be subjected to a full trial—leading to either his conviction or acquittal.

After concluding the confirmation of charges on Feb. 27, the ICC will have to adjudicate whether there exists sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to a full trial, typically issued within 60 days after the confirmation hearing.
