@Ebube_Emechebe My own take is why you couldn't have stated your reservations about PUSG in a separate tweet. By quoting Vanessa's first post, you have taken away from her success story on getting a scholarship and now the entire conversation has been about PUSG rather than her accomplishment 🤦‍♂️

Waited for your follow-up tweet because of the ellipsis at the end of this one but as it's taking this long, here goes: The reason behind the outrage two days ago wasn't about a meagre "proof of financial need". It is boldly stated as a requirement in the application form by PUSG to attach an affidavit. Now the specific wording of whether it was an affidavit of poverty or an affidavit to prove means of income or financial need is what is being contested now, which is fine, but the fact that you said it's just a proof of financial need is wrong. Congratulations to you once again on winning, and I honestly do not mean to rein on your success, but what is worth doing is worth doing well. Other scholarship grants exist, as popular as PUSG, but they do not ask for your arm and your leg. They do not ask you to enter in the public records that you're poor, something that could be retrieved tomorrow for public use if need be. The whole essence of what I have been trying to say is that the requirement to even depose to an affidavit, whether for poverty or financial need or means of income, should be set aside. And if there are other scholarship grants that ask for this strenuous requirement, they should be called out. The attention is on PUSG because they are the known culprits and it's been going on for years.

Back in university, my immediate neighbour nearly finished me with his steady flow of girlfriend. Almost every night, something was happening. The building had PVC ceiling, so you could hear almost everything from the next room. And this guy was very energetic when it comes to bedroom matters. The painful part was that we shared the same name. So during their marathon, the girls would be calling his name (my name too), shouting for him to go harder. I endured it for a while, but one day I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to confront him and beg him to consider my sanity. To be fair, he listened to me and from that day, the noise reduced. Sometimes you just have to speak up. You might need to talk to your neighbour too.
