Game 2: Wayne Memorial scored the first 8 points of the 2nd qtr to go up 16-10, but Detroit Renaissance answered with the next 9 points to take the lead back at 19-16. After a WM FG and a defensive stop, Mariah Cross hit a deep 3 at the buzzer to give WM a 21-19 halftime edge. With Renaissance in front by 1, Wayne Memorial used a 12-pt 3rd qtr run to go up 34-23, and later added a 15-0 4th qtr run to expand their lead out to 55-29. Wayne Memorial wins 55-33. Sr Temple commit Mariah Cross (pictured, #5) got things going for Wayne Memorial, building off of her 25-point performance from last night, scoring all of her points in the 1st half as she scored 15 of WM's 21 1st half points. Cross also hustled her way to a team-high 12 rebounds for a double-double. In the 2nd half, they made a concerted effort to get the ball inside as 6'3" sr Kayla King (pictured, #1) scored 10 of her 14 after intermission and 5'11" sr Tai'Chiauna Allen had all 7 of her points in the 2nd half. King and Allen also had 7 rebounds apiece. Sr Jarbri'an Autry led Detroit Renaissance with 9 points, while 6' soph Jayla Adams had a game-high 13 rebounds while battling 6'3" King head-to-head most of the game. I’m excited to announce my commitment to Virginia State University to continue my academic and athletic career . First of all I’d like to thank God for blessing me this opportunity. I would like to thank my Mother for being my biggest supporter , My sister Jahleiza ,Stepdad Shawn and immediate family for all of your love, support and sacrifices throughout my journey to get here. My teammates for all the support, compassion and love as well as pushing me in practice to be better than the day before. Thank you to all of my Trainers, and Coaches (AAU coaches as well) in the past who helped me along the way. Thank you to all of the college coaches who gave me the opportunity to play at the next level. A special thank you to Coach Jarvis Mitchell and the Wayne Memorial coaching staff for these last two years of my high school career for not only believing in me but the development both mentally and physically preparing me for my college journey. Thank you Coach Jarvis for putting me in a position for Sucess and Coach June for also pushing me to be the best version of me . Thank you to the 1 Nation and Wayne Memorial family for your unconditional love and support. Thank you Coach Green and the coaching staff at VSU for this opportunity to play at the next level.
