🎇🎆YAY! 🎆🎇 US Suicide rates for kids decreased in 2022! Not only has there has been NO pandemic effect on school-aged children, '22 demonstrates an overall 10.3% REDUCTION in suicide rates compared to '21, and 15.5% lower than '18. A 6y low for boys and a 7y low for girls!

The younger a kid is when they get their first smartphone, the worse their mental health as a young (18-24 yo) adult. Parents: resist the urge to get your pre-teen a smartphone! They will be better off in the long-term if you wait. (The longer the better) sapienlabs.org/wp-content/upl…

Our friend @mswjake is always giving us the best reminders! "You are more than what you get paid to do.⁣ You are more than your profession. You are more than who you feel your professional self has to be.⁣ You are more than what you have to act like at work.⁣"

To remedy this, you might try to: • Do more tasks or hobbies that have a beginning, middle, & end. • Build a new habit or shift into an older routine. • Mimick your typical commute with a “commute walk” at the start or end of your day. • Implement an “email blackout period”.

Feeling exhausted by the mundane and repetitive aspects of life right now is a normal response to a disruption in temporal integration.

The pandemic has significantly altered our sense of time and has caused a shift in what is called temporal integration.

I pranked my class and had our principal tell them that I was reassigned and that she would teach them for the rest of the year. Gr 8s do not normally show emotion but heads were in hands and I was told their House Party chat was on fire! A good laugh #yorklearns #AprilFoolsDay

April Fool’s prank on 8A from Ms. Gopal and Ms. Gin. Our efforts to put a smile on your face. Not to worry, Ms. Gopal will stay as your beloved HR teacher as you wrap up your 8th grade under the pandemic. Thanks for allowing us some fun. #yorklearns

A bottom up approach to learning: People learn best when they (1) feel safe in their environment and (2) feel socially- and emotionally-connected to others. Our thinking & learning brain is not at full capacity until these two needs are met.
