@amypretzel All these people complaining about how much their front loader sucks... Step number one is don't buy garbage designed to break down.

@FightWithMemes Get a Speed Queen. Built like a tank. Lasts forever because they don't bother making shitty smartphones.

unpopular take: the most underrated piece of object engineering in your house is your front-load washer door seal. it's a torus of EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene diene monomer, picked because it survives hot water + detergent + bleach for 10+ years). it has 3 sealing lips, drainage channels routed to prevent mold, and a bellows geometry that absorbs drum vibration without leaking under 1200 RPM spin. it costs your manufacturer maybe $4. it does more mechanical work than your car's serpentine belt and you've never noticed it. that's the gold standard

@amypretzel I replaced this on mine the other day and it’s held on by the worlds tightest spring which was nearly impossible to remove with out the specialized tool which they don’t sell anywhere in my country and required dismantling most of the front.

@j00ny369T The epoxy resin eventually breaks down from UV in the sun, and will start to crumble pebbles off and look like crap in about 5 years. Then you can enjoy tearing it out.

Latin America is now aging faster than ANY region in the world. Chile has a lower birthrate than even Japan. What is going on?

@gotrice2024 For $500, I'd take the panel off and roll those dents out. It's never going to look perfect, but around my kids it won't look perfect for much longer anyhow.

This ma ordered a new fridge for $1000 from Lowe’s. When it was delivered, the delivery men accidentally dented the right stainless steel panel on the door.
The fridge still works great, but there are three unsightly dents. He reached out to Lowe’s and they took $500 off of the total price, so he ended up getting it for only $500.
Would you have taken that deal and saved $500 or would you have taken the fridge back and had the give you a new one that was not damaged?
