❗️The US has temporarily authorized operations involving some Russian oil. The US Treasury Department has issued a 30-day license allowing the sale and transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products if they were loaded onto tankers before March 12. The license is valid until April 11. According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the measure only applies to oil already at sea and, in his opinion, will not bring significant financial benefits to Russia. The license also allows all operations related to the delivery and unloading of such cargo, including tankers subject to sanctions. According to Russian envoy Dmitriev, the easing of restrictions could affect approximately 100 million barrels of Russian oil in transit. The Financial Times reports that Russia could be earning up to $150 million in additional revenue per day due to the war in the Middle East. After the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, demand for Russian oil from India and China has increased, bringing the Kremlin between $1.3 billion and $1.9 billion in additional tax revenue.
