@RueKat123 @rachelbovard Most states, really? The largest state, CA, made it ILLEGAL to check id at polling places. Way the hell would they do that if "everyone can agree" on the opposite?

@rachelbovard This isn’t an act about simple state ID- it’s so much worse. Everyone can agree to regular state issued ID- most states already do that. This is making huge hurdles to vote:

.@SECWAR “This media here—not all of it, but much of it—wants you to think, just 19 days into this conflict, that we are somehow spinning toward an endless abyss, or a ‘forever war,’ or a quagmire. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. Hear it from me, one of hundreds of thousands who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, who watched foolish politicians like Bush, Obama, and Biden squander American credibility, treasure, and troops—this is NOT those wars. President Trump knows better. Epic Fury IS DIFFERENT.”

FYI: The Prairieland attack (also known as the 2025 Alvarado ICE facility incident or Prairieland ICE Detention Center incident) occurred on the evening of July 4, 2025, at the Prairieland Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas (southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area). Federal prosecutors described it as a premeditated, coordinated ambush by a group of individuals (often referred to in court documents and DOJ statements as members of a North Texas "Antifa cell"), while defense accounts characterized it more as a protest demonstration that escalated. Here's a chronological description of how events unfolded that night, based on official statements, court testimony, and charging documents: * Around 10:30–10:37 p.m. CDT - A group of at least 11 individuals (some sources say about a dozen) arrived near the facility. Many were dressed in "black bloc" style - dark clothing, face coverings, head coverings, and in some cases body armor or tactical gear - to conceal identities and blend together. They carried radios for communication, spray paint, fireworks (treated as explosives in charges), and firearms (including alleged AR-style rifles). * Initial actions (diversion/vandalism phase) - The group began setting off and throwing fireworks toward the detention center building and property. This created noise and visual distraction, reportedly intended as a "noise demonstration" in support of detainees or to draw attention. Some participants vandalized parked employee vehicles (spray-painting graffiti) and a guard shack/structure on the premises. Unarmed correctional officers inside the facility observed the activity and called 911 to report suspicious behavior/possible disturbance. * Police response - Alvarado Police Lt. Thomas Gross (among others) responded quickly to the scene after the 911 call. As officers arrived and approached, some in the group began to flee on foot, ignoring commands to stop. * Shooting/ambush phase - With officers on scene, at least one individual (prosecutors identified Benjamin Hanil Song, a former Marine Corps reservist, as the primary shooter) positioned in a nearby wooded/treed area opened fire with a rifle. Song allegedly yelled something like "get to the rifles" before shooting. Lt. Gross was struck once in the neck (the bullet reportedly exited through his back in some accounts). Additional shots (20–30 rounds in some descriptions) were fired toward unarmed correctional officers who had stepped outside or were in the area; they ducked for cover and retreated without being hit. Prosecutors described this as a planned ambush meant to target law enforcement and facility staff, not a spontaneous escalation. * Immediate aftermath - The officer (Lt. Gross) was injured but survived; he was treated and later released from the hospital. The attackers scattered. No detainees inside the facility were directly harmed, and the center housed over 1,000 people at the time (including some with serious criminal convictions and known/suspected terrorists, per DHS statements). Law enforcement pursued, leading to rapid arrests of most participants over the following days/weeks (one major suspect, Song, was captured about 12 days later after a manhunt and FBI Most Wanted listing). The incident resulted in federal charges against over a dozen people (with 9 going to trial in early 2026), including rioting, use of explosives (fireworks), providing material support to terrorists, weapons charges, and attempted murder. In March 2026, a federal jury convicted all nine on trial of multiple counts (with Song specifically convicted of attempted murder of the officer, while others got terrorism-related support and explosives convictions in a mixed verdict)

Anarchist literature is now evidence of terrorism, according to the government. As is wearing black at a protest, carrying a first aid kit, or using Signal. Horrifying stuff is happening, it's happening quickly, and not nearly enough people are paying attention to it.
Cory Massimino@corymassimino

Today a jury in Prairieland, TX will decide if the state can imprison people for their beliefs, if the state can criminalize ideas it dislikes, if the state can treat anarchists like terrorists. It's a horrifyingly consequential pivot point in our descent into authoritarianism.

Trying Chick-fil-A at the Glenn Beck studios today and I’ve got to be honest - it’s no Nando’s. 🇬🇧 My son said it was "disrespectful" to even compare the two, and after trying it, I think he’s right. It’s decent, but it doesn’t touch a proper grilled chicken from back home. 6/10 at best. Americans, you need to get to the UK for a real feed!

According to X, the account is "based in Switzerland" but "connected via Iran Android App." I don't know what to make of that, but I expect the account represents the views of many Iranians inside and outside of Iran considering the regime killed tens of thousands of people inside Iran expressing similar views not long ago.

I am posting from inside Iran, bypassing several layers of blockage to post this. The Iranian people want this regime gone and are willing to pay the price, because the price of the regime staying in power is higher. That is all. That's the tweet.

From skimming the notes, the event has characteristics of other antifa organized "call to action" riots that have become all too common especially since the summer of 2020. I understand some people want to normalize this kind of provocative militant action. It should not be normalized. It's not good trouble. It's radical revolutionary tactics. - a peaceful day time event precedes the less peaceful nocturnal activity which serves to give cover for surveillance and to sow confusion about the true nature of the action after dark - turning off cell phones to defeat tracking to avoid prosecution - black-bloc to conceal identities, making it difficult to discern who did what to avoid prosecution - walkie talkies to coordinate the action on the ground - people having different roles: megaphone operators, flashlight operators, firework launchers, vandals, armed security, medics If you haven't heard this phrase, look it up, what it means, where it comes from: "The target's reaction is the action." But in this case, one individual in this group was less disciplined and started shooting. That kinda blew it for the whole operation. His action became the action. It's a bad idea to get mixed up with groups like this. I hope it works out OK for your sister and she steers clear of it in the future. Sounds like her role was to give cover to the bad actors.

@nordm @feraljokes How are they not court notes? They are literal notes taken from inside the courtroom in real time. You know, no need to answer. You have no interest in knowing what actually happened and I'm not here to convince.

@nordm @feraljokes I am. It changes nothing. She was considered to be the least culpable of all, having arrived late to the demo, missed the fireworks, never saw or touched a gun or firework, damaged nothing. She stood in a field and left the minute Officer Reedy told them to.

I'm sorry, those aren't "court notes," it's an outright lie to claim they are. That's an activist website pushing an obviously distorted description of the event as "a normal protest", the presence of AR rifles makes it crystal clear it was not a "normal protest". I trust the jury. That website and you are provably not credible.

link please Where is the lie? Did they not arrive in black-bloc with firework/explosives and rifles? Did they not vandalize the site? Did they not deploy weapons at the site? Was a cop not shot in the neck? These things are not fun-and-game "noise protests." Trantifa "furries" or not, these are militant actions. They were not convicted for simply possessing stupid anarchist "zines" and being dressed poorly. Where is the lie?

@nordm @feraljokes I have no illusions about changing your mind, and no desire. There are court notes documenting every moment of trial and every lie the prosecution was caught in on the Prairieland website. If I'm wrong and you sincerely want to understand what happened, that's the way.

I remember clearly hearing this messaging which was obvious to me at least a false hard sell. The COVID response was bizarrely propagandistic and obviously so. This is why trust was demolished, not for lack of listening. We were all stuck at home with nothing to do but listen. youtube.com/watch?v=fyrBUk…

@LakerGMC_ @wil_da_beast630 I know that people think there were officials saying the vaccine would stop the spread but the ones I heard clearly said there was a chance it wouldn't, even before it was released. Poor listening skills is the REAL pandemic.
