I mean I despise DI, and maybe the community has overcompensated and stigmatized DI as a scrub trap to cope with how volatile the mechanic actually is, but it is extremely uncommon at pro tournament level because those players are usually very risk averse. Funny enough it makes me wonder why daigo didn't just throw it out more considering how often he used reversals

@ohdin021 @thefleecer Just happened 10 minutes ago in winners finals to Micky, one of Hong Kong's best pro players, by the 3S legend KSK. There is no level of play where random DI is not used, and there is no level of play where DI can't catch you off guard.

I don't like how the narrative has been about Daigo's age. It's not his age, it's the game. Other 40+ yr old players have done well in SF6. SF6's design just doesn't jive with his playstyle & it makes me sad that this one particularly volatile SF has him considering retirement.

@thefleecer @emezie I promise you nobody at the pro level is pressing random drive impacts to catch pokes, it is extremely high risk and the reason it's annoying as a mechanic is that high risk medium reward mechanics are a ranked ape's favorite meal

@emezie Indeed, this game specifically preys on older player instincts really often. Almost anything you'd reach for from past experience is the wrong answer. Safe pokes, make space? Nah, eat that drive impact for daring to press a button that can't be canceled

@JWonggg Mena is the best but level 2 is busted, both can be true. Blanka mental stack is notoriously difficult for even the best players to deal with hence why everyone complains about him. Daigo winning the majority of the first rounds says a lot about how powerful level 2 is.

People keep talking about Mena abusing lvl 2 Blanka which I think was very tame this time around compared to what he usually does. So people not gonna talk about how Mena completely countered Daigo’s fireball game with perfect parry and played mad patient on the ground and was not afraid of taking all the Umeshoryus to not second guess his offense?

Here’s what I know: 1. Luigi had no history of violence at all. No criminal record at all. Not even a misdemeanor. 2. Luigi had mild depression but other than that he had no mental health problems at all. So the official story is that a well educated rich kid, with no history of violence, no criminal record, no serious mental health issues, left his high rise apartment in Honolulu and traveled all the way across the country to NYC where he somehow obtained a “partially 3-D printed” gun and then carried out a perfectly targeted assassination on a healthcare CEO who was traveling and just happened to be outside his hotel at 5:30 in the morning. Then, according to the Feds, this well educated rich kid, with no history of violence, no criminal record, no serious mental health issues, fled across the city back to his hostel where he collected his belongings, always keeping his face carefully covered (except the one time he tried to flirt with the clerk on check-in). He then went south to BFE Pennsylvania where he was arrested 5 days later after a worker at a McDonalds called the cops claiming a customer was “being weird” despite the bodycams showing him just sitting in a booth minding his own business on his computer. Those same cops who captured him on their body cams then did a preliminary search of his backpack where they report finding a “gun magazine” inside. These same cops then load the backpack into their vehicle, *turn off their body cams* and then miraculously find the “partially 3-D printed gun” and a notebook containing the “manifesto.” Then a transcript of that manifesto is “leaked” to Ken Klippenstein, the EXACT same guy who also got the big leak on the Tyler Robinson Discord chats. The cops then completely fabricated a conversation with Luigi’s mom, and claimed she said “I could see him doing this” when she literally never said that and they were forced to admit so in court. ———— Those are the things I know. So yes, I’m comfortable giving Luigi the presumption of innocence until trial.

I'm sure plenty of people are welcoming an "event that happens to them" and think of it prophetically, but you can't assume that is everyone. "The singularity" is not a predetermined outcome or set event, it describes the period in which compression of information and intelligence rapidly changes the fundamental relationship we have with reality and upends traditional epistemics, and we are already seeing that happen.

Something that bothers me a lot about modern games is when a character is just plain unfun to play against, regardless of whether they are powerful or not, they never seem to get substantial meaningful changes that address the core issue. How do you let something ruin your game for more than 6 months, let alone 4 years ? ?
